My vent for today:

Hubby had dinner with his parents last night. I had told him to email me about it when he got home. In his email he tells me that the dinner was to discuss his career options and that it got him thinking and to hold of sending the letter to our landlord to end our tenancy. :|

Oh wow Mal....that's a vent for sure! How are you feeling about this?

Conflicted, scared, worried, among others. I'm really not sure what to think because he said we had to talk, but with a grinny face. Blah.

Edit: It is just like them to do this after I leave, too, which adds to it all.

My vent - yesterday D and I went out to get some brunch and discovered that some asshat had sideswiped his car the night before, leaving huge scrapes on the drivers side from stem to stern and completely taking off the mirror. But no note of course. We live right down the block from a popular restaurant/bar so probably drunk, grrrr. Sorta surprised that we didn't hear anything since the car was parked on the street right under our bedroom window. But I am beginning to think the car has a "hit me" sign on because this is the 3rd or 4th time it has been hit while parked since D moved 4 years ago. Fortunately everyone else until this idiot has left a note.

It's only 5:20 out there, so it'll be at least 3hrs. :\

Hope you hear something soon. I hate not knowing and uncertainty.

I hate how so many great posters stop posting regularly after they successfully move to the States.

I don't blame the posters at all...it makes perfect sense...but I hate that it DOES happen, if you know what I mean.

I can think of at least five formerly-regular posters who don't post anymore since they're done with the process. Grrrr.

Yeah...it makes you feel kind of used, doesn't it?

Honestly though, I'm been here three full years now...I stopped posting a lot because of time and also, because I'm channeling all my energy into actual creative writing these days which is positive for me..instead of writing posts.

I will always stop by though!

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

My vent:

I bit off more than I could chew when I moved in with my in-laws.

That 'tis all.

Many of us did it...and I think 99.9% of us not necessarily regretted it, because we had to do it, but hated most of the time we had to spend there. I love my in-laws but you can't be married and live with a family, even if it's your own.

On the other hand, once you and your husband/wife are finally together, on your own, you will be saying how you wished you saw them less! hahaha

Or maybe that's just me.

I'm still upset about my husband's passport getting stolen, although I'm thankful at the same time that the situation isn't worse than it could easily have been (like him being injured or killed or us having to replace his green card again). This is going to be such a huge headache to replace, though. He was in Dallas, TX, when this happened, and there's actually a Canadian Consulate there, but my husband left last night on another run. He said that he'll stop in the next city with a Consulate in it and get everything done, but I really worry about him being able to get his CDL renewed and getting into the field office for his biometrics without his passport. Plus I'm worried about how big of a hassle it's going to be for him to travel across the border from now on since he'll be flagged in the system. He was planning on doing a lot of USA/Canada runs once he got his 10-year green card.

Is it wrong for me to be so upset with him? I know it's not his fault he was robbed, but it makes me so angry that he doesn't take better care of his important stuff. We've already had to replace his green card once... you'd think he would have learned his lesson then, but no. He kept his passport in his vest pocket in the front of the truck instead of keeping it in the back sleeper with him.

02/08/08 - GREEN CARD APPROVED!!!!!!

02/16/08 - Green card received!

02/04/09 - Our best friends bail us out by giving us the money to file for the replacement green card!

02/12/09 - E-filed I-90 for the replacement green card along with the $370 filing fee (including biometrics)

02/19/09 - NOA1

02/25/09 - Biometrics appointment

05/01/09 - Replacement green card received

Removal of conditions:

01/07/10: Mailed I-751 packet by overnight mail to the CSC

01/11/10: I-751 packet delivered and signed for

01/19/10: Received NOA1

01/28/10: Biometrics (did walk-in due to Réjean being out on the road on original date of 02/10/10)

02/03/10: APPROVED!!!

02/05/10: Received e-mail from USCIS saying the card production has been ordered

02/06/10: Received letter typed on plain paper from USCIS congratulating Réjean on his removal of conditions approval

02/11/10: Green card received

but I really worry about him being able to get his CDL renewed and getting into the field office for his biometrics without his passport.

He should be able to use just his license or the greencard at his biometrics appt.

I don't think I had to show my passport this time when removing conditions, because I already had my 2 year card. I believe I just showed the 2 year card, and my state license.

In Virginia, I didn't have to show my passport either at the DMV. Not sure on the CDL though...you may want to call your local DMV about that.

I'm glad he was ok, as you said, it could have been a lot worse.

My vent this morning.

I left early to get to work so that I could be here at 9am (I usually don't start until 10).

Because of the rain and flooding, my 45minute commute took me 2 hours.

Roads closed, trees and power lines down, cars backed up because of Mercedes broken down in the middle of lane of a 2-lane road.

Not fun.

So what time did I get to work? 10:15

Oh, and we have a leak in our roof, which I noticed this morning because of a nice water bubble in the ceiling in the bathroom.

Thankfully the only thing that really got wet in the attic where we have a ton of our stuff stored were my hockey pants...which are meant to get wet

Still...now I have to have my landlords come over and fix it, and the house is in a bit of a disarray because of not being able to tidy up this weekend. So tonight will be a whirlwind cleanup so that I can have them come over without being embarrased by the state of everything. *sigh*

Is it Friday yet?

My vent?

That someone just went and took a dump on what was supposed to be an appreciation thread.

Honestly, everyone is truly entitled to an opinion...but when something is clearly supposed to be a positive thread, why would someone go and do that.

I'm just a tad pissed off by that.

Lol You need to relax a bit there, the Montreal Consulate is a VERY sore spot for me and I apologized already :)

It's only 5:20 out there, so it'll be at least 3hrs. :\

No.

When there's a thread that clearly encapsulates how happy people are with recent events as they pertain to their cases -- events that are being felt by SCORES of people in this forum right now -- there is NO reason for someone who is no longer even IN the process to go in there, just to voice a past grievance. It's extremely rude, in my view.

Truly, I have no problem with you feeling the way you do -- you've had your own experience with them, and are completely entitled to your opinion. What I AM annoyed about is where you did it...and WHY you did it. Why bog down a positive thread with your own dirty laundry? Why not do it in the Vent thread? It's just bad netiquette, pure and simple.
