I bit off more than I could chew when I moved in with my in-laws.

On an unrelated note: I have been absent on the forums due to complete craziness here, but I am now back due to things calming down, being extremely lonely and utterly lacking the oft-desired wit of the Canadian forums.

It's super challenging. If I had to do it all over again I would have told him to get a place of his own. We spent an entire with the in-laws... it wasn't fun at all. I totally understand.

We're budgeting about two years here, unfortunately. His truck payment needs to disappear before we can look at incurring another major expense.

And the thing is... I LOVE my in-laws, especially my mother-in-law. Her and I are so similar, we could be mother and daughter. We get along so well... It's just that this household is so crazy and has so many people in it... that instead of being the wife to one, I very often feel like the housewife to seven. And it's a bit much.

So hubby and I end up having problems because I'm overly stressed about having dinner on the table and dealing with bratty younger siblings and still being wifey... all of which would very much not be an issue were we on our own the great majority of the time.

I just have to find a better way of coping with the major readjustment, methinks.

Honestly, I feel the EXACT same way after temporarily moving back in with my OWN parents at the end of November. I find myself sequestered in my room for about 80% of the day, which is why I post here a lot more these days than I did in October and November...

I figured it would be very tough for me to do, given that I'm thirty, very independent, don't have much in common with my parents, and would really rather be elsewhere...but the reality of it has equaled my concerns about it. It's definitely not good for one's peace of mind. I just want to be together with my wife -- her and I alone. Likewise, you just want to be together with your husband...him and you alone!

I suppose the nice, shiny silver lining of this all is that you've already spent a ton of time going through adverse circumstances with him, so a little bit longer is going to be doable for you both -- and you both know it!

You're quite right about that one. Heck, if those of us going through immigration don't know enough about biding time... haha.

The in-laws are self proclaimed hillbillies in the deep dark holler where family is stone's throw away from each other...and they all love and hate each other. I can spend an afternoon there, and that's about it

My vent for today:

Hubby had dinner with his parents last night. I had told him to email me about it when he got home. In his email he tells me that the dinner was to discuss his career options and that it got him thinking and to hold of sending the letter to our landlord to end our tenancy. :|
