Oh god I wish I was married.

I had the worst allergic reaction to something I ate last night.

I broke out in hives EVERYWHERE and my lips and the left side of my face are still swollen...

I hope Aleve is good at anti inflamatory... cause I need something.

I have travel medical insurance, but I dont want to use it unless I really have to.

Aleve is more of a muscle relaxer, I think. Take Ibuprofen or Mortrin or even Benadryl. Drink lots of water too.

Also, you need to really see what youre eating. Its likely your allergic to the spices and herbs your in-laws are using.

Finally married... and still married... ;)

Hm, I thought it was an NSAID, Non steroidal anti inflamatory drug.

I'll have to go read the bottle or something.

And yeah, it could be spices. I don't really see how though, since I had hives at home in canada and I only ever used salt and pepper.

Oh it's so confusing.

Benedryl would be better for an allergic reaction! best to see a dr soon, as allergic reactions can get worse with each exposure. The first time a substance enteries the body, one doesnt normally have a reaction, the body just says holy #######, i don't like that!!, next time i see that substance i'm going to fight back--Whammo allergic reaction next time that substance enters the body! Allergic reaction may not get any worse, but they could turn deadly, as in throat swelling up, not begin able to breathe!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Agreed. I read the info on Aleve and it does say it has anti-inflammatory effects, but its not the same effect. Benadryl will be your best bet.

How strange, cause I just ate a piece of this candy I ate yesterday as well and now I can hardly talk.

Gotta love not knowing what I'm allergic to.

I had this before with jujubes from Canada (Compliments brand) and after a while I was able to eat them no problem. Guess I should go get some Benadryl.

Thanks :)

And that sucks Missa. It sounds like alot of pain :(

I hope nothing's wrong so you can move to the US.

It is an NSAID, though I wouldn't think of taking it for hives.

Rhi and I suffer from the same problem. My doctor diagnosed them as idiopathic with no cause. NOTHING stands out as being a culprit, as I get them at different times, different places, and different severities. I also have the same problem as Rhi in that one time I will react to something, eat it again, and I won't. Sometimes it just isn't so cut and dry. In fact, I can no longer take Benadryl or daily allergy medications as they cause me to have hives now when I never used to get them before.

Man, why'd I have to get this of all things

Guess I gotta get some humor out of it.

My fiance doesnt believe there's no such thing as idiopathic hives. He just doesnt.

Believe me, I can understand where he is coming from. If you think about it, why would you just suddenly start developing these things for no reason?

Mine started for a reason connected to being really sick for a month, put on antibiotics, and woke up the next morning with hives. I had never had any reaction to antibiotics before that. Ever since that day (two years ago next month) I have gotten hives.

I just randomly started getting them one day.

I thought it was the orange juice, but I still have no clue what it could have been.

LIFE'S AN ADVENTURE.

Or so it seems

Weird experience yesterday. . . .

MIL is in town, and we were meeting her and Don at the luau at the Fairmont. 30 minutes before we're supposed to leave, Chris is still outside cleaning his truck. I remind him that he needs to get in the shower, shave and get dressed asap. I look over my should and this huge white SUV pulls up in our drive. Strange of course because we are the last house at the end of a long road and we have a closed gate.

This Process Server steps out looking like Dog the Bounty Hunter. He walks up to us and asks if we know who so and so are. We say no. He asks where a certain street is. We tell him. He then plops out 4 different summons for 4 different people from our village and starts telling us what so and so did. We kind of awkwardly laugh and try to change the subject. Somehow that turns to how much he dislikes black people and how he hopes no more of them move into the islands because they "like shacking up with all the pretty Filipino girls". :o He finishes that conversation with, how he met O.J. Simpson once and he is not like the rest of those "bananas" because he is really one of the few from the "upper echelon".

So that wasted 20 minutes. Needless to saw we were late for the luau and MIL was none-impressed.

Ohhhhhh, Missa. I hope things go well for you. (F)

My fiance doesnt believe there's no such thing as idiopathic hives. He just doesnt.

I used to work with a guy who had them. Every day. He was on meds.
