(lol..though on my list I have to add..pregnancy, immigration, moving, crazy family members, going broke, and other things...lol...)

That is stressful enough as it is, which is harder for others to relate to since they don't go through both of these things together

"Life is a challenging journey..." And if you can find others to relate to along the way..Then you are very lucky, indeed! :)

I have my share of life obstacles (unsupportive family members, financial, etc) too. Life IS stressful--we oughta help encourage each other on our life journey. :-)

I forgot about the "Add Friend" feature here. I added you as a friend too. :-)

I make friends pretty easily, and haven't had a whole lot of issues with it. I've had maybe 3 or 4 former friends with whom a friendly relationship is no longer possible, but we're still civil to each other in public. I'm even still friends with most of my ex-boyfriends.

I was blessed, during college, to be part of a very awesome "family" of friends. These were people who I could call at 4am and tell them I was 2 hours away with a broken down car, and they'd be there to pick me up in about 2 hours and 15 minutes :) 8 years later, 16 will be in attendance at our wedding (two had work-related excuses, and we lost one of our crew about two years ago)...and many of them are driving several hours or flying in. While I'm sad that this one friend has decided to exclude himself, I can't overlook how lucky I am to have so many people who care about me.

This guy was a good friend when we worked together, were both single, and could spend all our time goofing off and hanging with other friends or going out for drinks after work. We worked together at a callcenter (I was a supervisor, he was a trainer) and we've lived together a few times. Fortunately (for me, at least) I grew up, graduated college, found my dream guy, found my dream job, moved to another state, and now have a whole new pile of obligations. He's worked off and on since we left the callcenter, but usually with large gaps of unemployment between his jobs. He's divorced, his daughter's on the other side of the country, he's sleepin on someone's couch, and he's broke....I know he's depressed, but he refuses to do anything to change his life, including getting counseling or a job. We just grew apart because we're living different lives, and I was willing to acknowledge that...but dang, he said some mean stuff in his e-mail =\

I don't have any friends for two reasons:

1) I moved A LOT growing up. I am somewhere near 55 to 60 times. Never had time to forge any lasting, strong relationships with people.

Wow. That's got to have an effect on your emotional makeup and sense of well-being. I can see why you're finding it difficult to leave your husband. Stability is very important in one's life.

Speaking of leaving..... that's tomorrow, isn't it? How are you holding up, Mal? (F)

Well I don't think it has anything to do with you at all. It's him and he knows it. Sometimes people like that can't stand to see someone move on and be happy and work out the kinks in their lives. They don't know how to deal with it, and there's probably some jealousy that goes along with it as well.

You've done everything you can. Maybe one day he will come around, maybe he won't.

I know it's hard to lose a good friend though.

My maid of honor dropped out of my wedding and claimed she couldn't afford her dress, which I offered to help pay for. My bridesmaids dresses weren't that expensive, but she didn't want to pay for anything. She thought my in-laws would pay for everything. She kept telling me that I should get all the girls to do a spa day and make my mother in law pay for it. She also thought my mother in law should pay for all hair and make up on the day of. She was more interested in herself than she was in me and my wedding. She was upset I didn't choose the colours she wanted, which was red and gold, and I hate gold. When she told me she wasn't going to be in my wedding party, I was kind of relieved because I didn't have to deal with her crazy demands or moodiness anymore. She was like a bridezilla and she wasn't even the bride.

I hate needles.

I hate pretending like I'm not the biggest wimp in the world when I go to get a shot.

I am procrastinating getting said shot by sitting on VJ right now.

She was like a bridezilla and she wasn't even the bride.

With 9 days to go, I officially have a "momzilla"

I know that he's having trouble adapting to me having a new lifestyle. I'm doubtful he'll come around...he has very high demands of his friends, and if he feels ignored he throws a temper tantrum and sends e-mails like these. He was actually MAD that I invited him out to breakfast on Sunday morning when I was in town last weekend. He said he didn't have money, and then hinted that he'd go if I'd pay. I told him I didn't have the money to cover him, and he invited us over after breakfast. We showed up and called his phone several times as well as his roommate's phone, and no answer. We went to my brother's house instead, where I fell asleep. When I woke up, I had a text telling me he was going to bed because he didn't feel well, and a voicemail b*tching at me because I'd invited him out for breakfast knowing he didn't have any money. His closing line was "Well, I'm about to drive over to [restaurant] and get some lunch, so I guess I'll talk to you whenever". The restaurant he went to for lunch cost more than the place we went to for breakfast!

I'm more or less over it at this point, many of our mutual friends have told me they've gotten letters from him like that too, and that he's being really self-centered, and not to blame myself. I'm excited that my friends start showing up a week from today to get ready for the wedding

I had a similar upbringing -- moved with my mother and brother almost every six months -- I got used to having no friends or always being the cast out. But, that changed for me as soon as I left home at 16 and made my way on my own -- I think it gave me tougher skin -- it also taught me never to rely on anyone else but myself.

For some reason, I feel okay-ish about divulging a bit of myself with you guys -- hope that's okay. I personally like to hear about people's stories and such... finding out what makes or unmakes us, so to speak...

:)

Don't feel bad Sam, I think that I am probably far worse when it comes to needles. I generally need to be sedated when I get any sort of shot. I think the only injection that I can handle are TB tests. I have a phobia of needles and will have intense anxiety attacks whereas I will tense up to the point that most needles will actually bend trying to be put in.

What the heck? Is it telemarketer month or something? We've been receiving non-stop telemarketing calls all week. Yesterday I received a call with the same "Anonymous Private Number" ID that I get when my husband calls. So I said "hellloooooooo" in my best sexy voice. Some man came on asking for my husband..... very hesitantly, I might add.

*sigh*

So Monday felt pretty ill, Tuesday, achy and sore. Yesterday morning, I feel good! Even went for a job interview. By the afternoon I started feeling sick again, by yesterday night I'm all stuffed up, fever and chills. Today...It's like a 180 from yesterday morning.

Went to clinic, no flu. Just weird that it came on so quickly.

I hate missing work, I have a feeling my boss is going to be ticked, but what can I do?

I got a call out of the blue from a longtime acquaintance of 20 years who wanted me to be one of her bridesmaid. I said Yes, and things were fine and dandy until during the reception planning, I asked if I could be excused from time to time to sit with my hubby (then fiance) who's flying from Chicago and doesn't know anyone from the wedding party. She freaked out, said a good friend would standby her in her hour of need and asked if I wanted to step down from my bridesmaid's duty!

Her reaction caught me off guard. Well, I apologize for that insensitive suggestion--she balled her eyes out and we patched things up. I got her a $200 spa certificate and flowers as a "I'm sorry" gift. Her wedding went on smoothly like a fairytale. Then she disappeared from my life, never to be heard again.

Bizarre, eh?

Reven, I read your sharing with great reverence and respect but I just wanted to point out...

It is BAWLING, not balling!

BUt thank you for that, as that is one of the best word switch-ups ever...

Your bride friend sounds like a complete selfish douche... sorry that that happened to you.

((((hug))))
