I agree.

When I got pregnant, I found out who my real friends were.

When I got married, I found out who my real friends were again.

Every time life changes drastically for me - there are friends who will go, friends who grow apart from me. It just happens, and I think it's just natural in life.

Out with the old and in with the new.

Oh. It also made me realize that I can't/won't have friends who are bitter, selfish and don't work or take care of themselves. For all I've seen, it's always a bad sign when you have a friend that for whatever reason doesn't work for long, long periods of time but YET, complains about how crappy their life is, how difficult things are and need to have someone prop them up at all times.

Lessons learned the hard way.

OOoh, sorry for the vent -- i just started venting about this a day ago as I'd been really hurting about it for the past 3 months. Feels good to get it out of my system. It really hurt me that I was dumped for no reason just when I needed my best friend around.

:)

Word, Mah friend...

So true.

I found out who my real friends were when I divorced. My mother once told me that if I found two true friends throughout my life I would be lucky. She was right and I have been blessed with two friends (one from high school and one from university) that are there for me whenever, whatever even if we haven't spoken for months or even years. Life and time often get away from us but I know I can call them anytime and they are there.

Others just come and go depending on interests and the stage of life we are at.

I've only read the last couple of pages of this thread, but I'm blessed I don't have any friends like ones you're all talking about. None have turned on me yet, anyway. All my close friends have been since high school and I'm now well into my 30s.

I will take this thread as a reminder to look within myself and make sure I'm the kind of friend to my loved ones that I expect others them to be to me.

I've only got two people I could really call friends.

One's been with me for 10+ years, the other about 4.

I'm greatful neither have left me.

I don't have any friends for two reasons:

1) I moved A LOT growing up. I am somewhere near 55 to 60 times. Never had time to forge any lasting, strong relationships with people.

2) The few people I have considered my friend ended up breaking my heart in one way or another.

Hi Everyone,

My Vent for Today...

1) I called the Dr. yesterday for an appointment...They never called me back.....

So am just kind of facing this situation with painkillers....

Hope that helps for the time being until I can figure out what to do next....

2) I'm done with the USICIS..But I still have the immigration-related costs to pay, and won't be able to pay it off for a very long time...

I'm doing the best I can, paying it off a bit at a time....but at this rate, it's going to take forever!

Not only that, but I have to deal with the harassment from the person who lent me the money....

Sigh...It would have been easier for me to go the bank, as I get less harassment there...

but umm..they don't have "immigration expenses related loans"...

Been :crying: for hours over this.....Sigh...Maybe I shouldn't have went for citizenship....

Reven-Wow, you have a lot of groups and interests, indeed!

Actually, I kind of feel the same way too...Yeah, I've been more fond of VJ than any of the other online groups I belong to as well..

The pregnancy thing here is somewhat a bit to late for me now as I have a baby already...But I can definitely relate to these issues, nevertheless!

I think it's because we are/were all going through two difficult things: pregnancy and immigration (and Canada) at the same time....

(lol..though on my list I have to add..pregnancy, immigration, moving, crazy family members, going broke, and other things...lol...)

That is stressful enough as it is, which is harder for others to relate to since they don't go through both of these things together

"Life is a challenging journey..." And if you can find others to relate to along the way..Then you are very lucky, indeed! :)

Hope you and everyone else here on VJ are able to find some friends here on VJ to relate too as well!

Ant

P.S. (Btw..Hope you don't mind that I added you to my friends list too...Anyone else want to be my VJ friend as well?)
