So I told my mom today that I'm pregnant (first pregnancy), that I'm due in Aug 21st. Her response?--Indifference. She said, "Yeah yeah. I don't care what you do with your life."

"Well...I'm done." Then I went upstairs and :crying: .

Awwww Reven! Sorry to hear that. It sounds like maybe your mom is having a hard time accepting you will be moving so far away, and perhaps losing a grandchild to the distance is a very hard thing to accept as well. It doesn't make it better, but I experienced some cold statements from my mother during my immigration process, which was really out of character for her. It took time but she came to accept my decision and I think we're at a much better place now. Hopefully things improve for you! And congrats again on the little babe :)

Bah, sorry to hear that huggles - sounds like we both had disappointing housing experiences this weekend! We have decided to pass on the one we were looking at, based on the inspection.

I am sure you will find something wonderful

Sorry to hear about that trailmix! I guess these are signs that we haven't found "the one" yet, right? There's another one I saw last weekend I liked too but it would need some work, it was a repo from the veterans association? And whoever left went kicking and screaming, that's for sure. But we're going to look at a few more this weekend and then hopefully make an offer on something. Did the house have a lot of issues?

I want to vent about Reven's Mom. That is totally unacceptable. I know my Mom won't be overly happy about me being pregnant, but that is because

Sorry about the housing, Huggles and trailmix. You will find something you like much better. Hopefully cheaper.

Thanks Val, I hope so too :)

Venty vent vent:

Why is it that everyone seems to think I have nothing better to do for three or so days leading up to my wedding than entertain them and host them at my house?! Spoom and I visited our friends this weekend, and I was shocked how many of them either asked if they could (or better, two of them informed me that they were) stay with us Thurs/Fri/Sat/Some combination thereof. As it currently stands, we're in a 2 bedroom apartment, and we had 4 out-of-town guests planning on staying with us (Spoom's best man and his girlfriend, who's one of my bridesmaids, and my two brothers).

I've been informing them, as I have been all along, that there's a 35-50/night motel next to the church and that we can't put anyone else in our apartment. The reactions have not been pretty.

Is it wrong to want semi-sanity the last few days before the wedding? Am I obligated to find someplace for all these people? If I tried to accomodate all the people who've asked/informed me that they were staying with us, we'd be looking at 12+ people in a two bedroom with an OLD water heater and crappy well water.

<--goes crazy.

Omg Scooter, I know exactly what you mean! I had the same problems. Not only did everyone want to stay with me here in my inlaws house (not even mine!) but everyone insisted in using me as a tour guide a day or two before the wedding so they could "see Colorado!" as if I had nothing better to do. I literally shut off my cell phone for two days (which is huge for me) and put it in my honeymoon suitcase! I almost had a breakdown of sorts... I wish I had advice to make everything better. I freaked out to my dad and he laid down the law on my behalf and got everyone to leave me alone. I guess the best thing you can do is try that and hope people get it. Its your day, not theirs!! Congrats to you and Spoom on your big day coming up really soon!! :)

P.S. My guess..For some weird reason, I think it's going to be a girl for you..lol...(though I could be wrong..50/50 chance there...)

By the way, are you going to find out when you do the ultrasound later on?

As long as it is happy and healthy, then so be it, boy or girl...regardless....:)

It would be interesting to find out if you're right, lol. No schedule for the next ultrasound yet--that's when they'll find out the baby's gender.

Yes Huggles, lots of problems with it!

I'm glad we decided not to go with it anyway, there are other options for sure :)

Absolutely! Lots of fish in the sea right? I keep trying to tell myself that, but unfortunately I'm still not ready to let the townhouse I love go. Our Realtor is investigating the situation to see if it would be worth trying to offer on it anyway. I'm a little skeptical and we probably will walk away, I just want to know I'm not jumping the gun and making the wrong decision ya know?

We looked an an old bank owned home the other day and it was so horrible it was funny. The floor moved when we walked on it, the previous owners tore down a wall to make 2 bedrooms into 1 but they never fixed the floor so there was this large board running down the middle of the floor to hide the seam, someone put a toilet in the closet... literally, a closet with a toilet and the floor was rotting around it, the kitchen appliances were from the 60's at best, they sorta finished the basement but they obviously didn't know how to drywall so they stopped like 3/4 the way up the wall...

Huggles...soooooo jealous that you're looking for a house, but happy for you too! :)

Wish John and I could look for a home, I always torture myself by checking out the homes for sale, but then I get depressed when I find one I like  Maybe I shouldn't do that anymore

I used to do the same thing, all the time... and yes, its probably a bad idea  But, we have a pretty moderate budget so its still a little depressing when you see something you'd love but know you definitely couldn't afford to buy it. Your time will come! I didn't think we could qualify for much of a home loan either but we sat down with a lender and actually pre qualified for a mortgage higher than I imagined we would. So the time could come sooner than you think!
