Ugh...

John started to feel sick on Saturday, so he was in bed all day yesterday.

Then yesterday I started to feel sick.

Now, we both feel like death warmed over :(

I hate feeling like this.

Plus, it's really cold in our house. The kitchen was an add-on many many many years ago and they didn't insulate the crawlspace underneath, so it is freezing in there. The downstairs gets all of it's heat sucked out.

We've put plastic up on the windows, I've tried to fill in the cracks between the floor and the wall...and now, even though it's not my house, I'm tempted to buy the insulation and vapor barrior myself and get John and I to do it.

My landlords are great, but I don't think they would go for it.

I'm going to price it out today...since I'm home and can pretty much just sit without falling over.

Yay.

Yeah, it should be pretty cheap to insulate the crawlspace area under your kitchen. A few bags of Owens Corning R24 should do the trick. Roxul is a better insulation, but I don't believe it's available in the U.S. Stay away from Johns Mansville insulation too.

Ya, I was looking at the Owen's Corning R24 on home depot. I really like my landlords, but I know that they are dealing with the economy as well, so I don't know if they would go for doing it for us.

The kitchen used to have a baseboard heater, that never worked when we moved in. They gave us a spaceheater for the kitchen, but it's not really efficient (but neither is electric baseboard!)

I just want to be able to come downstairs in the morning and it not be 46deg down here.

I'll have to talk to John and see if he'll do it...with my help of course.

Sam, it is REALLY hard to get them off. I had them for a long time when I first moved to Seattle and decided I didn't want them anymore. The easiest, most pain-free way to go about it - let your nails grow. As your nails grow, clip them back and eventually the acryllic will be gone. The thing with the acryllic is they require "fills" every two weeks. If you don't fill, it'll start wearing away with water over the nail (showers, etc) and clipping.

Venty vent vent:

Why is it that everyone seems to think I have nothing better to do for three or so days leading up to my wedding than entertain them and host them at my house?! Spoom and I visited our friends this weekend, and I was shocked how many of them either asked if they could (or better, two of them informed me that they were) stay with us Thurs/Fri/Sat/Some combination thereof. As it currently stands, we're in a 2 bedroom apartment, and we had 4 out-of-town guests planning on staying with us (Spoom's best man and his girlfriend, who's one of my bridesmaids, and my two brothers).

I've been informing them, as I have been all along, that there's a 35-50/night motel next to the church and that we can't put anyone else in our apartment. The reactions have not been pretty.

Is it wrong to want semi-sanity the last few days before the wedding? Am I obligated to find someplace for all these people? If I tried to accomodate all the people who've asked/informed me that they were staying with us, we'd be looking at 12+ people in a two bedroom with an OLD water heater and crappy well water.

<--goes crazy.

Hey there Reven...

I'm SO sorry to hear that. What makes it worse too is that you had to sit down adn have dinner with her afterward. Parent's are funny. WEll, not ha-ha funny.

I haven't actually had any contact with my mother since I was about 18. THat's a long, long time ago for me.

Sometimes, even though blood related, some people are not meant to get along.

:)

Sorry you have to go through this during a time of great joy.

Yeah, I'm not taking it very well. She didn't speak to me during dinner.

I wish I could complain about some of the people around here!

So I told my mom today that I'm pregnant (first pregnancy), that I'm due in Aug 21st. Her response?--Indifference. She said, "Yeah yeah. I don't care what you do with your life."

"Well...I'm done." Then I went upstairs and :crying: .

:o

:( I am so so sorry, Reven. (F)(F)(F)

Here is a kitty.

CuteKitten.JPG

Freakin' acrylic nails.

Ugh. I HATE those things. They felt all weird and stuff, so I had them removed. Don't ever do that! They soak them in the polish remover and then sand them off. It ruins your nails!!!! Do like Mal says..... let them grow out and keep trimming. It will take a while but you're in for the same long process if you have them removed...... you have to wait for the shredded nails to grow out too.

Ugh...

John started to feel sick on Saturday, so he was in bed all day yesterday.

Then yesterday I started to feel sick.

Ugh. Sorry you're not feeling well. Hope you're better soon!

No, you're not obligated and no, they shouldn't be ticked that they can't stay with you. Some people just don't put themselves in other peoples' shoes before they talk, though.

Sorry to hear that! I'm due a month before you. I won't tell anyone till I start showing.

Is your mom upset you will be moving to the USA? Sorry to be so nosy, but you sound so excited about being pregnant and here you tell your mom and she is indifferent. Do you live together?

My vent?

People who salt my food. At our cafeteria, the guy who works there liberally salts EVERYTHING! Sammiches, mains, salads everything. I usually catch him before he adds additional salt to whatever I get but I didn't today and my salad was way too salty.

I dunno about you guys, but I find that rude. I know salt is necessary in some foods as it helps bring up flavour a bit but I am not a salter, I put very little salt in anything. When I bake, yes, to bring out the sweet but almost no salt in anything else.

I find it rude that someone would take it upon themselves to season my food (and everyone elses) especially with something that' actually pretty bad for you and already prevalent in most foods.

Congratulations!

And your little one's too cute! :luv:

Aww shucks! Thanks for the compliment, Krikit. He turns one in three days.

Lgg - I worked at McD in high school and was taught to MAJORLY salt the fries. So much that whenever I ate fast food fries I always request them unsalted. This guarantees fresh fries, too.

I don't like salt. I use hot sauce instead. Hahah

Thanks everyone (MrsCat, Wyatt, Rhain, Flames 9, ZansGirl, ValerieA, J&K, Igg, Krikit, Team J and B--hope I didn't miss anyone) for your thoughtful and kind words. It does take the sting out of it a bit. I'm still hurt but I'm putting it aside for now cuz I just got back from my first ultrasound and am relieved baby is doing fine and has a heartbeat. :-)

Yes, I live with Mom and Dad until I can finally move out to join hubby. My parents have not been happy with my dating/marriage to 1) a Black man and 2) an American. I suppose I'm not too surprised by her indifference--better than outright anger. But it still hurts. :(

My vent. It has been almost 6 weeks since my wife got her green card, and we have been asking her parents to send her ROE and a copy of her resume that was saved on her parents computer ever since. All they have to do is click half a dozen times in an email and send it off. But now I have to go and ask her to call and remind them yet again because they have forgot. I know she hates asking them, but we are really kind of stuck. :(
