Oh, that's too bad. I bet you find something that's perfect, its hard when you feel like one got away.

So my vent today..

Yesterday we saw a townhouse we both loved! It was huge, 2 years old, had lots of space and a defined area that would be great for my Canadian family coming to visit. The kitchen was a little small, it had no yard and the landscaping was lacking, and there was no view at all, but those are things I was willing to overlook. We seriously thought about putting an offer in, but we decided that we needed to think about it for a couple days and get some more information about the property and the HOA from our Realtor. Since we only looked at a few places and this is our first experience in the market, we also wanted to see some more comparable properties. So, we come online today and do a little searching in this home database we were told about and the townhouse is now under contract. Someone put an offer on it literally hours after we saw it. I guess it was to good to be true... :( They're entertaining other offers but I'm not really wanting to get into a bidding war, I think we just need to move on.

So I told my mom today that I'm pregnant (first pregnancy), that I'm due in Aug 21st. Her response?--Indifference. She said, "Yeah yeah. I don't care what you do with your life."

"Well...I'm done." Then I went upstairs and :crying: .

Jesus. Sorry to hear that, Rev.

I hate how horrible parents can be sometimes. I don't think they always realize that even though their offspring can go out and lead productive, independent lives, a part of each of them will still be in their parents' thrall.

Wow. Your own mother said it like that?

Here I thought my mom was bad when it came to things.

I'm so sorry to hear she's like that. That's so insensitive of her. :(

You know, she should probably be challenged on it. That sounds like a situation that seriously needs a showdown, regardless of the eventual fallout. That ####### just shouldn't happen. The more I think about it, the more I seethe.

Bah, sorry to hear that huggles - sounds like we both had disappointing housing experiences this weekend! We have decided to pass on the one we were looking at, based on the inspection.

I am sure you will find something wonderful

The VJ family is VERY excited for you.... CONGRATS!!!! Now please back to venting!! lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I want to vent about Reven's Mom. That is totally unacceptable. I know my Mom won't be overly happy about me being pregnant, but that is because she worries about me. And she will keep it to herself and act happy, for my sake. I am willing to share her, Reven...

Sorry about the housing, Huggles and trailmix. You will find something you like much better. Hopefully cheaper.

Reven, I'm so sorry.. that's a time when a parent should be happy and excited for you... Worry is only natural, but not to be expressed like that at all..

My vent today:

Freakin' acrylic nails. I have never had fake nails. I hadn't even had a manicure in years... but my mother-in-law suggested I get them done before my wedding on Saturday. So we went. I told the nail tech that I wanted a French manicure... and he asked "pink and white?" I, thinking that meant white tip and natural nail colour (as opposed to perhaps French tip with a different colour?), said yes...

Now the damn things won't come off. I soaked them in nail polish for an hour last night, and that didn't work. So today, when running errands, I have to find some actual remover for them, which Walmart seems to have, though the price is unlisted online.

*sigh* All I wanted was pretty tips.

I got acrylic nails once - I tried to take them off myself (mind you, I had them on for a few weeks at that point) - it wasn't good. Then again, I saw someone having them taken off at a salon once, they didn't seem to be having any more success than I did.

I was using nail polish remover to soak them in, didn't seem to help much. I did eventually get them off though!

Good luck
