My husband is a US citizen and we were married in Singapore in July 2008 in Singapore. We submitted our I-130 forms on Jul 30 & received NOA receipt on Aug 5. Up until today, the status is still showing as initial review.

Our question is, is there anything we need to do or have to do while we sit here and wait for the I-130 approval?

We do appreciate all sincere answers as we badly want to be back together again.

Thank you in advance for all answers.

Hi there,

Check out the guides and start collecting together all the documents you will need for your interview, including police certificates, tax returns needed for your affidavit of support, etc.

It's worth posting and reading on the regional forum too, as each consulate/ USEM requires slightly different docs.

Good luck and congrats!

The problem is we were informed in the receipt "the beneficiaries of a petitin must wait until a visa number is available before they can take the next step" but the K3 guide stated that we should submit I-129 as soon as we get the receipt. That is what is confusing us.

There's nothing you can send anywhere until you get the case number, and you are correct that you cannot submit any further documents until you are instructed to do so, but there's nothing stopping you from getting the paperwork assembled!

Namely, complete the I129F, complete the biometrics forms, and start getting all the other documents together. When that notification arrives, you can immediately send everything you need to off to begin the next step. Waiting to even gather documents together will only make the process take longer.
