No medical information is required with filing Form I-130. Medical information may be asked for during the medical and interview. If your husband's parents are older (more than 60+ years old), you will need to look into getting private health insurance. They will not qualify for Medicare or Social Security until they accumulate 40 work quarters (at least 10 years of work). They may qualify for means-tested benefits (welfare) after becoming US citizens.

I am also filing for I-485 at the same time. I cant find anything in USCIS site says if I need it or not. I-485 form has a "medical report" part. We live in Sacramento Ca...they have not received their CA ID. I just dont know where to get medical report with no cost to me. Filing fee is way to much...add more doctor fee...juz plain crazy...

Yes both your parents are going to have to have a medical done.. You need to find a Civil Surgeon in your area (you will find a list on the USCIS website) that doctor will do the medical and will complete the required forms. You will have to pay a fee for the medical, it can be anything from $150 - $400 each, Your parents may also need vaccinations done and you will need to pay for them as well, some local health centers will do the shots for a reduced fee.

You send the medical papers in the sealed envelope that you are given by the Civil Surgeon with the I-485 and I-130. I agree that the cost of doing AOS is very high and that is one reason that most people who are filing to bring a parent over to live in the USA do it from their home country.

I-130 = $355.00

I-485 = $1010.00

Total = $1365.00 each

OR

I-130 = $355

I-864 = $70.00 (you only pay this once, not for both parents)

DS-230 = $400.00

Total = $825.00 for 1 parent

= $755.00 for the other parent.

Thank u so much for all your info. But..why do I only pay once for I-864. Dont I file separate petition, separate affidavit? How about the form I-693?..Can I used I-693 instead? DS-230...I dont see that in USCIS website?

If you are filing for your parents who are in the USA then you only need to file I-130 & I-485 and supporting evidence including the I-693 (medical report) you can also can file for Advanced Parole and EAD along with the I-485 (they are included in the cost).

If you are filing for them and they are in their home country then you file the I-130 with USCIS and once that is approved the case then gets sent to NVC and that is where you file forms DS-3032, I-864 and DS-230.. You can fine full details of the NVC process in the wiki at the top of this page.

You won't see the DS-230 on the USCIS website because it is not a USCIS form. DS-230 is only used for visa situations.

If filing with the parents from inside the USA you do not pay an I-864 at all... The I-864 fee is only if they are coming on an visa.

I-693 is needed for adjustment from inside the USA

YMMV

Let me get this straight... I'm filing I-130 with I-485. Also I-864 and I-693?? The affidavit I-864 is separate? Or not? Where can I find that I dont have to pay for I-864? Thank you again.

I-864 is filed WITH the I-485... You can look in the instructions to determine that there is no fee for the I-864 filed with the I-485... It says right there that the USCIS does NOT charge a fee for the I-864. The $70 fee is only if the form is reviewed by the Department of State (ie... NVC)

YMMV

I get so confuse that form I-864 part 3 number 9...it says DO not include any relative listed on a separate petition. Isn't my in-laws are two separate petition? Where would I put 2 people, plus 3 includes me, my husband and daughter equals 5 people.
