How could this situation affect us?

Details -

- we just got packet 3 yesterday

- interview anticipation - December

Problems -

- I need to move and it is most likely going to be in December or the beginning of January at the latest.

- I intend to be fully moved before he gets here

- I have no idea where yet, somewhere local to me most likely

- We're filling in all the packet 3 forms with my current address

Questions....

Will a change of address affect our interview in any way?

How long do I have after an address change to report it?

How do you go about reporting an address change so late in the process?

Thank you so much in advance!

And just fyi, I am trying to put off the move until after the interview. Since we are not scheduled for an interview yet, I can't know for sure that is possible. I really don't want this headache right now but some things are unavoidable. (As if life wasn't complicated enough...I DO NOT want to do anything to mess this up or potentially mess up my K-1 at this point.)

January 2009 - K-1 Denied by the consulate

January 2011 - Moved to India - Yikes!

October 2011 - DCF filing rejected by overzealous employee at the embassy

December 2011 - Tourist visa denied (not surprising)

March 2012 - CR1/IR1 process started

May 1, 2012 - RFE and some of our information was entered into the computer wrong by the CSC

No your change of address will not affect your interview whatsoever. After he gets his visa and you get married, then you'll just use your 'new address' (if you've already moved) when filling out the AOS papers.

My fiance and I have both had to deal with this situation.

I (UK citizen) moved in August. He (US citizen) moved in October.

My packet 3 letter from the US Embassy in London arrived 2 weeks before I moved. After I moved, we set up mail forwarding, so that any mail sent to the old address would be redirected to the new address. This way, if the embassy had reason to write to me (not that I was expecting them to, they were waiting for me to submit all my forms and checklist) then I'd get their letter despite having moved.

As soon as I moved, I just wrote them a letter (case number and name exactly as written on packet 3 letter is vital!) and explained that I'd moved from old address (which I stated) to my new address (which I always stated).

Have had no problems since then. They did enter my town incorrectly when entering the new details, but anything they've sent to me so far has managed to get it here just fine. (And I have written to them about that last week, so hopefully they'll fix the error.)

As for my fiance though---when I submitted the forms to the embassy (back in September) I included an addition to each form (any asking for his address, anyways) that stated that he was planning on moving before our wedding. I gave the new address, so hopefully that'll be okay.

Now that he has moved, I'll redo the forms and re-submit them (hopefully that's allowed!) and take copies of the changed forms with me to the interview.
