Hello Group People,

I have met this beautiful filipina and I now want to marry her. We are both crazy in love with each other. The long story short is this one. I can only go over to the PI on or about Jan or Feb 2007. I know that we are meant to be with each other and would LOVE to do it quickly already. I called an attorney here and he told me to file for the K1 a month before I go there so by the time I get back here, all I would have to do is send in the photos and such of us two. She suggested to me about a Visitor's Visa. That got me to thinking and would not it be a GREAT idea if she could come here and then I can contact whatever authorities here needed in order to file for marriage while she is HERE?

I hope I have made myself clear enough to you guys here. What I am asking to find out if it is feasible to apply for a visitor's visa for her here, get her here and then apply for a K1? My premilinary thinking would say that with a visitors, should not take as long as the K1. I am planning in calling a Imm. attorney next week to discuss if this is a soluble solution.

What do you guys/gals think?

Thanks in advance,

Angel

Congratulations on your new found love... it's incrediable isn't it :) You want to get it done asap, you want to married today already? Calm down :) Read the guides above, before you rush out to do anything, including wasting your money on an attorney.

One: Visistor Visa - does she have a very strong proof that she will return to the philipines after her "Visit" in the US. Wait, that's not what your intention was, you want to lie to the State Dept. to issue her a visa then come to the US to marry you. (I am not accusing you, but that's how the US Govt. will understand, and will for sure deport your honey back to Philipines, we don't want that) So, what are the proof of returning to the philipines comprised of? Does she have high paying job which she will return after visit? Does she own lands/real estate/properties/company over there of which she will return to upon the end of her visit? If she says YES to all and some more of those basic question, then MAYBE they will issue her a visitor Visa.

Two: K-1 is the quickest way to have your lover here to marry you. Ranging from 5-9 months in a typical case (there is no typical case!!! Every case is different and treated with great care by the Consulate Officier). You can retain an attorney if that is what you choose to do, but most of us here on VJ had done this process by ourselves successfully, with a lot of helps from the community.

Could you clarify the follow: have you met her? Do you have any proof of this meeting? Was it within the last 2 years? Those are the basic requirement to apply for a Fiance Visa petition. You said you MET her, but then you said you won't be able to meet her in Feb 2007 and only then, you will have pictures to send in for your I-129F application? Which one is it? Why would your attorney advice you to send in an incomplete package without the basic evidence of your meeting?

Bottlom line is I hope you spend sometimes to read over the FAQ's and Guides on this forum and come back with questions for us.... and read some more....

Hold off on hiring an attorney, instead, spend the money to go visit her first!!!

Welcome and goodluck :D

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.
