Hello VJ member,

I was schedule to take my naturalization oath on the 18th of this month. I know, I will bring this appointment letter and the paper I received after my citizenship interview, as well my 10 yrs valid gc to surrender to them.

My question is, do I have to surrender also my expired conditional gc?

To VJ members who took their oath ceremony at Pomona....please I wanna hear your experienced.

Any USCIS-issued document, so that includes expired green cards, expired EAD, or expired re-entry permits.

Just bring them with you, they are already useless anyways.

Thanks, yeah they're useless but sometimes it is nice to have a remembrance like the old gc. Ok, I better bring the old gc to surrender to the USCIS.

Actually, they are interested in any valid immigration documents. That includes your 10 year green card and any valid travel documents that you might have in your possession (some people have additional travel documents issued by USCIS). They aren't interested in your expired immigration documents so there is no need to bring those.

The immigration officers took my 2 year and 10 year green cards! So, bring your expired conditional GC in case the immigration officers will ask you for that.

The immigration officers took my 2 year and 10 year green cards! So, bring your expired conditional GC in case the immigration officers will ask you for that.

Interesting. They only took the 10 year card from me and went down the aisles asking for valid immigration documents. They handed some expired documents back to an individual a few seats down from me and said they didn't need those, only the valid ones. I guess it varies from place to place.

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering about a similar thing too...

-I don't have my 2yr expired green card (I cut it up in bits and threw that out...was frustrated at the USCIS..lol..). Is only bringing my valid 10yr green card ok, as that's all I have now? Do I have to explain to them what I did with my 2yr card (ummm..it's in some landfill/junk yard somewhere?...)
