Can I study while waiting for green card?

Hi!

I was wondering what the rules are on studying while waiting for conditional green card (AOS) to be approved.

I have a degree already. But was thinking it would be cool to take a class or two in january at my local community college. Especially if my EAD isn't here by then or I can't find a job right away.

Does anyone what the laws are on this?

thanks guys!

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

The same question was asked on here a couple weeks ago. I'm sure you will find your question is sufficiently addressed in detail in this thread.

K1: 01/15/2009 (mailed I-129F) - 06/23/2009 (visa received)

AOS: 08/08/2009 (mailed I-485, I-765, & I-131) - 10/29/2009 (received GC)

RSN: Thank you - that link pretty much answered my question! I have e-mailed the college to see what their verdict is...

Inky - that sucks! I can only begin to imagine how bored you must be. I'm bored already and it's only been a week since we mailed the AOS (3 weeks since I finished work.) Hope your EAD card gets here soon :star:

There are usually TONS of night classes and community classes that you can attend... They do not require residency or green card proof... Check with the Sacrimento parks and rec and as them for classes and what is going on the community... I google this link...

Christeen, thank you - that was so sweet of you! While Sacramento is our nearest office it's actually an hour and a half's drive. But that's a great idea for em to sue on my city! I've e-mailed my local CC and i'll google for night classes in my city too. Thanks again for being so nice!

I'm sure that you will hear from your cc soon, but I wanted to add that at my university there is a limit on the number of classes that you can take without having the green card. Students can attend part time. I hope you hear the good news soon.

Waiting.....Waiting....waiting....waiting....and more waiting..........

Thank you! Yeah that's what i'm hoping just part time - a class or 2 would be good...

I got an e-mail back from the CC - the person at admissions had no idea but said they'd forwarded my e-mail to someone else who might be able to give me some answers. But ultimately I won't get a yes or no until after i've applied, been accepted and they then access my residency. They won't accept applications for the spring semester until November 18th... So it will be some time after that before i will know.

Another thing to wait for I guess!!!
