My wife arrived in Dec. 05 on a k3 visa and I filed for adjustment of Status to Chicago office with a receipt date of Jan. 22 06. In may they requested more info which I immidiately sent to them and it was received may 18. When I call or go to their web for status , this is the only info Iget"

Current Status:

On May 18, 2006, we received your response to our request for evidence or information. However because preliminary processing was complete, the remaining processing time will be less than the maximum stated in this message. You will receive a written decision on this case. You can use our processing dates to estimate when this case will be done. Follow the the link below for current processing dates."

Questions:

1. How long does this process take from start to finish?

2. Will it take another six months for them to review the additional document I sent to them.

3. Where is my service center--is it chicago. The mail they sent to me comes from Lee Summit Mo? is it Kansas or where?

Please help educate me on this .

Why did you send the AOS applications to Chicago? Is that where you live?

timelines are different all around the country, it depends on the district office where you're being processed. Check the USCIS webiste timelines to get an idea from your district office.

That is where the initial processing is done..... then it is sent to your local office when they are ready to interview you.... so check the processing dates for your local office to see the date of the oldest case they are working on... remember it is only a guide...

I agree with Kezzie, it is just a guideline.

I am also here on a K-3 visa and our AOS interview date is August 1st 19 months after we sent our AOS application in. The processing dates for Atlanta acording to the website are a full year after our application date so I don't think there is any way anyone can know how long this process will be. For some it seems to all happen really quickly and for others it goes on and on and on with no end in sight. We finally have an end in sight and I am hopeful that since by the time our interview finally happens we will of been married for almost 3 years that it will mean I will get the 10 year green card and that we might not have to file to remove conditions later. Maybe that is wishful thinking on my part but since we have waited so long for our interview there has to be some good come from it.

Just learn to be patient and try to relax....(from one that has never learnt those things)

Thanks Debby. They said on their website and when you call that it takes 90 to 180 days to process this type of application. Does that mean they are lying. In any case, I will as you suggest, learn to take a deep breath when ever I think of those guys. Thanks in any case
