hi, in may i sent my petition for a k-1 visa. in june i was layed off work. my petition has been approved but i am still collecting unemployment. i have met the 125% in the 6months i was working this year. does my unemployment checks count. the amount i receive each week still puts me above the 125% i need if i was to collect for a whole year. i can get a job bartending but i will be making considerably less money than my old job and its a totally different field of work. how long will i have to work there to establish a steady income. how do i go about showing my tips to them.

You want to show current and continuing income that meets the income requirements.

Claim all your tips each pay period. That way it shows up on your paystubs.

ok, after rereading my post i would like to ask in a different way. how long will i have to be at a new job for the embassy to accept what my new income will be?

there is no minimum time per se. You need to show current income in excess of the guidelines and some sort of evidence that it is reasonably expected to continue, though almost no employer would give any such guarantee, they can say in an employment letter that the work is "permanent, year 'round" or "expected to continue" or some such wording. Employment letters are optional; but if the job is fairly new, I would try to get one.
