Hello to all. I have just joined here today and I hope I am doing this correctly. I have a question. I sold my house in the US and moved here, to the Philippines, 19 months ago. I recently married a Filipina here and wish to apply for a visa for my wife and her 4 year old child. As I nowhave no "real" residence in the US.....do I have a big problem? Or, may I simply use my previous address? Thanks

if you no longer own the house at your previous address how could you possibly use it?

You need to be able to accept mail at any address you use. And you need to possibly be able to live there for a while once your spouse gets the visa. How about parents? Siblings, Aunts, Uncles, cousins etc?

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!

This is the way I see it... anybody please jump in if I am incorrect!!!

The problem you are going to have is one of Domicile.. to be a sponsor (which you must be for your wife) you must be domiciled in the US, or prove that your residence abroad is temporary.. and that you intend to

re-establish your residence in the US.

Therefore you can try to DCF in the country you are in, or return to your country and establish residence. If you DCF you are going to need to prove that you have enough assets or a joint sponsor in the US that is willing to make his or her assets available for the intended immigrant.

There are plenty of people on this website in your situation, search for posts similar to yours !!

Goodluck !!

In order to DCF in Manila, you must be a resident there. Manila does not allow DCF for nonresidents. You can get a Philippine 13a non-quota resident visa based on your marriage.

If you plan to stay there and are just wanting to get a tourist visa for your wife to visit the US, your chances are good if you have residence there.

Hello Reba and a thousand thanks for your reply. Yes....I have family and I am welcome to use their address as my residence and even live there for a while until I get settled. Are you telling me that this arrangement is ok?
