I-131 Application For Travel Document Questions

Hi Everyone,

I am submitting the I-131 Application for Travel along with the AOS application for my wife and her 9 year old daughter, who both came to the US at the same time on a K-1 fiancé visa and K-2 child of K-1.

1) Where it asks for class of admission, is that K-1 visa (and K-2 visa for her daughter)?

2) Do I need to file two of these forms, one for my wife and one for her daughter?

3) In Part 2, Application Type, I believe we would fill out that we are applying for advanced parole for temporary travel outside of the US, correct?

4) On Part 7, it asks for us to include a separate piece of paper explaining how we "qualify for an Advanced Parole Document and what circumstances warrant issuance of advanced parole." I am a teacher taking a group of high school students to Mexico to study for two weeks in February and have the opportunity to bring my family along. Should I just write that? Is that reason enough for early travel to be granted? Or as they ask, are these "circumstances" sufficient to warrant issuance of advanced parole? Should I include any documentation about the trip (i.e.: an itinerary for our group from the school where we will be in Mexico, or is that overkill?

Thank you all again for the great help!

Hi,

Yes, class of admission is K1 (and K2)

A separate form has to be completed for each applicant.

Yes, the answer to Part 2 would be d.

On the separate sheet of paper, write the applicant's name and A-number at the top and mark clearly that it relates to part 7 of the form. Then just put a short paragraph similar to what you said above, except you need to write it from the point of view of the applicant since they are the one applying for advance parole ("I qualify for advance parole because I am currently filing for adjustment of status. I would like to travel abroad because my husband is a teacher taking a group of...'). Your wife's reason for requesting advance parole is sufficient. But yeah you can include any other information about the trip if you like.
