I just wanted to hear about some success stories when applying from adjustment of status from a tourist visa or Canadians.

I will be getting married Jan. 2 to a USC and I'm a Canadian citizen and will be filing for AOS shortly after we marry. I'm just curious about what other people went through (complications, interview, etc)

Many people here on VJ have entered the U.S. as a tourist, and then "spur-of-the-moment" decided to get married and stay in the U.S.

I'm not sure if you are already in the U.S. and are planning to stay. To me, spur-of-the-moment isn't entering as a tourist, and then having a wedding planned for January (several months down the road). If you are not in the U.S. already, then what you are planning to do is immigration fraud... you cannot enter the U.S. with a tourist visa, with the intention of marrying and STAYING in the U.S. and applying for AOS.

My now husband came to the US the first time in Aug 08 & in Oct 08 we decided we wanted to get married, sooooo Nov 08 we were married. He entered on the VWP from Australia. We filed for AOS in Feb 09, had biometrics in March 09, had interview & received green card in July 09! No hassles no problems!

I am currently in the united states I entered Sept 30 and my boyfriend at the time proposed to me and now we're planning on getting married on Jan. 2. The reason for this date is so that my family from Canada can attend. Does anyone see a problem with me planning the wedding??

Under the circumstances as you described, no. It does not appear that your intent upon entry to the US the last time was to get married. The proposal and the decision to marry happened after you arrived.

Be sure that you do NOT leave the US until after you have got married, have filed for the AOS and received either the Advance Parole or the Green Card. Be sure to file for the AOS as soon as you can after the marriage and definitely before you have been in the US for 6 months because any time after 6 months will be considered 'out of status' and can count towards a ban if you leave the country without the green card.

Less then 3 months for the entire process; no RFE's or any other problems. Interview was quick and simple.

And that was with a 3 year overstay I might add

My husband adjusted from VWP, with long overstay, no problems. Everything went very smoothly and we were never even asked about any of it.

they did not fall in love, they already were

anyway, my friend's husband was quite out of status in the last 5 years, aos took them about 3 months total. you should be fine
