  1. 1. Is breastfeeding in public indecent?

    • Yes, it should be illegal. I don't want to think about Mom when I'm going to Hooters or a Strip club.

    • No, it is perfectly natural and anyone that has a problem with it should mind their own business.

There is a time and place for everything. Don't make public of what should be private.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

I don't think it is, but the people at least need to use something to cover up.

There's alot of products out there that cover but still leave a place for the mom to look down and check on their baby.

At least use something like that.

Personally, I don't care if a breastfeeding mother covers up or not. Scandinavian women don't usually bother. They just lift their shirts and whip it out for their babies to feed.

I guess I was more thinking for themselves.

I know they're just breasts, but at least with me, semi covering up would make me more comfortable.

Others must have more courage about it than I do.

Don't know what your basis for this is. As a born and raised Scandinavian woman I would NEVER do this and I have never seen any of my Scandinavian friends "whip it out" either. I don't want to see other womens private parts nor do I wish to show mine off. Breastfeeding women should cover up properly or go somewhere private.

Hi Everyone,

My vote on this "Is breastfeeding in public indecent or publicly acceptable?" poll is:

No, it is perfectly natural and anyone that has a problem with it should mind their own business.

Heck, I've even breastfed my son in public before (covered up, with a shirt or blanket, of course), with no problems at all. I believe that by breastfeeding my son, it offers a lot of health benefits for the baby and as well as me, and is quite natural to do. So why not do such? As for doing it in public: Well, the baby has to eat. And if the baby has to eat, then why can't it do such instead of having to go hungry? After all, we eat in public too....

As well, it is perfectly legal to do such, so the law is on one's side there, if they choose to do such for their baby. It's natural, not illegal!

Thanks for sharing about the breastfeeding article too. Unfortunate, that the woman in the article was harassed for doing such in public. And the harassment came from someone else with kids too..even more unfortunate. Lol..I'm in for the feed-in too!

Lol..the next frontier: Breastfeeding at a public USCIS office! I wonder if I can pull this one off if need be next week when I go for my interview, and bring the baby along.....lol....should be interesting there......hmmm......

When I lived in Norway I saw women breastfeeding in public all the time. Perhaps Swedes aren't as progressive and comfortable with nudity as Norwegians are. It was weird for me at first seeing women breastfeed since breastfeeding isn't common in the US but I got used to it and decided it is perfectly natural. Personally, I'd rather pass by a woman breastfeeding than a girl in a Hooters uniform. I don't think a woman should have to cover her baby up under a blanket on a hot summer's day or hide out in a smelly bathroom in shame because you have a problem with it. That's your problem/hangup/issues that you should deal with yourself. You can always turn your head if you don't want to look.

Yeah, that surprised me too that it was a mother that kept hanging around to complain about it. It was silly she was threatening to call the police over a breastfeeding mother. Seriously, cops have actual crimes to deal with. She could have just shook her head and walked away. Personally, I don't want to have children of my own but if I did I'd breastfeed wherever as needed no matter who had a problem with it. I really don't understand why our society has so sexualized the breast and views it as something naughty meanwhile, a man working outside in summer is free to remove his shirt altogether.

I'm very private about BFing - I'll either go somewhere private and the times I could not avoid it I covered up. I would be more comfortable if other BFing women would cover, but if they don't I'm not going to harass them  I'd just look the other way...the kid's got to eat

I don't see anything wrong with it but I think it can be done in a tasteful way. If a woman is in the privacy of her home than she can breastfeed however she wants. I don't see a problem doing it in public since you can't exactly control when your baby is hungry, but there are ways to make it less comfortable for others by using a blanket or such

I completely agree. I breast fed both of my kids, discreetly but wherever we were when they were hungry. Ok, almost wherever we were. I draw the line at nursing and driving! Seriously what do people think we have these things full of milk for? It seems silly to me that people get so offended by someone doing something so innocent and natural.

I was once asked if I would mond taking my daughter into the rest room to feed her. I asked if she would want to eat on a toilet and said well my child doesnt want to either.

If I go to Hooters I know what to expect, if I don't want to see it I don't go there. However, if I am out in a public place I should not have to turn my head just because someone decides they have to breastfeed right then and there and can't be bothered to cover up.
