B-2 Visa Waiver

On the I-485 when it asks me for "Current USCIS Status" should i put B-2 or Visa Waiver?? I had put down VWP, then when i went to a lawyer to have them reviewed she told me to put B-2..So i am confused as to what to put.. I came here on VWP..

B-2 is a visitor visa, if you feel safer putting VWP since you know thats what you came on I would put VWP. That way if they interview you, and ask you about B-2 you wont get confused etc.

B-2 Tourist Visas are "visitor visas" and are required for citizens of countries that are not included in the Visa Waiver Program. However, even citizens of countries included in the Visa Waiver Program are required to obtain a B-2 visa if they plan to stay in the United States for longer than 90 days, change status to another nonimmigrant visa, or adjust status to permanent resident (Green Card) after entering the country.

well getting that info it looks like you can put B-2 for it since it means vwp as well.

A B2 is not the same as VWP. If you know you came on the VWP (filled in the green I-94W form on the plane), put VWP. For a B2 visa, you would have gone to a US embassy for an interview and had a visa in your passport before travelling, then filled in the white I-94 form on the plane. They aren't the same thing at all, so put VWP if that is what you used and don't create any unnecessary confusion

ETA - I adjusted from the VWP too and this is what we put!

I have 2 B-2 visas stamped in my passport, I have NEVER gone for an interview to get these. I got the stamps at the border when I visited my husband.

I suggest you check your passport Nat and see if they stamped when you came through.

It would also depend on the OP's nationality. Canadians entering as visitors are in a different position than those from VWP countries. nats, what country do you come from?

I came from Canada.. I just took the Amtrak over.. I lived just over the canadian border and my now husband lived about 4 hours away in washington.. So they stopped at the border everyone went inside they just asked a few questions and i filled out the I-94 (which i don't have anymore it has been 3 years) I didn't have a passport either since you didn't need one then.

Then you didnt enter on VWP, you are canadian and you need nothing but a passport to cross into america. Canadians travel freely back and forth with just a passport.

I would just put tourist. Canadian.
