My MIL asked my husband to go with her few years ago....at 4h30 am!!!!

I am sorry, but I hate shopping, and I hate getting up early. So nobody will ever make me get up to go shopping on Black Friday. Uh-uh

My birthday is Black Friday, so it's another reason to not go out and get trampled

My fiance's working that day anyway.

He works at a Target, and he himself gets scared by the sheer number of people trying to get in the doors when they open.

He said last year people were banging on the glass doors because they wanted in

That sucks to be working at one of those big chains on a day like that. I feel for him!

I love great deals but I you won't ever catch me out during Black Friday. Like someone else already said, I think it was Marilyn, after 5 or 6 am, there really isn't anything good left. My brother in law got inline at a best buy a few years ago at 4am, can't remember what he wanted...but he didn't even end up getting it!

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Last time I did Black Friday, we were at the outlets for midnight (actually, we got there at 11:15 and they opened early because of how damn cold it was), at Walmart at 5am (didn't sleep), and Target for 8am.

I bought $1000 worth of stuff for only $550.

put in a 'help wanted' ad at the local university - you'll need them to drive at 4 AM on Friday, till Mom is exhausted.

If you don't have a truck, be sure to borrow one, or make sure the person you are hiring HAS ONE.

I do suggest an additional college student (for a total of 2 ) to help out with standing in lines.

Help out the local economy ! Hire a USC College Student !!

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Wow, almost half off.

That's pretty good.

There's nothing neither of us want bad enough, so we're most likely not going to go anywhere Black Friday.

Not like we can afford to spend any money anyway.

I just can't see myself spending alot of money like that.

We got a lot of things we needed. I picked up a printer for $25, Black & Decker reusable filter coffee maker for $15, $300 worth of Aeropostale for $175, things like that. I can't even remember everything I got. Oh! My Levi's for $6 a piece.

Definitely! This was back in 2007 and they still look new. Remembered something else - got hubby Lucky Brand jeans for $40 a piece (they are normally around 80-90). I got 'em because he's tall, but needs a bigger size because he's got big thighs.

Sounds like my fiance.

He's not so tall, but he has big thighs and calves.

They stuck around from high school football

I remember in Vegas some random person commented about how muscular they were. It was sort of awkward.

Reaaaaaally awkward.

My poor dad though has a hard time getting jeans.

His legs are too long and even with Target you have to special order them because they dont keep them in stock.

Aside from the historical roots of Boxing Day and why the holiday actually exists, stores mainly use it as an opportunity to clean out old inventory they weren't able to sell for the christmas season. Its also a day to exchange those crappy christmas gifts that came with a gift receipt for something you like, and something you can get on sale at the same time.

I'm actually intrigued about this whole Black Friday thing. I love shopping and I love a good deal, but I'm really claustrophobic and tend to flip out in big crowds. I mean like flip out. Sooo... maybe it wouldn't be the best thing for me to get in the middle of? But I'm still thinking about it.

There are deals all day, Huggle. You can wait until after noon and head to places like Costco since the crowds die down around 11 or 12. You won't get the huge deals, but there are some good deals all day long.

I actually went on Black Friday once -- got to Kohls to buy my mum an electric toothbrush for like 25 dollars I believe. Naturally I was dazzled at the "holiday shopping rush" and the fact that Ive never done it before :P I dont know if I can ever do it again (was still in college back then), especially after a night of non-stop eating!

That aside, Im in the same pickle as CdNMn. Ignoring all forms of logic, my flights booked before I interview this Friday (yes I realize the flaw in that decision) and against my will, my entire family has booked their flights to MD to join me for Thanksgiving  Maybe illogical planning Is genetic.

Anyhow, I really dont know what to do with them :P And one great idea I had was take them to the outlets for Black Friday -- has anyone actually ever done this? If not, then we will all be stuck in one very small house with 1 couch and a very small television... :P

Finally married... and still married... ;)
