I'm just killing a few minutes before my work shift starts so thought I'd open a daily thread. I don't know about where you are, but it's been sooooo hot and humid here. The forecasters are saying it will be lovely and cool by Saturday. WOOT!

Mohammed and I have refound an old passtime we both so enjoyed. Mohammed will bring 2 or 3 English words he's heard that he doesn't know and I will tell him what they mean and how to pronounce them and use them in different examples. I know it's weird, but we both love words and it's great fun for us.

I wrote to the Embassy for a status update. I have no time now for sitting on hold endlessly with DOS. The structure of my job just doesn't allow for it. Unfortunately the Embassy has yet to reply and tomorrow and Saturday they are closed.

I have the sleepies. I hope this day rolls by fast.

I'm getting settled into work, can't wait for it to be over already LOL

Yousuf and I do that too... he'll give me English words and I'll do the same with Arabic words. I guess it does sound kind of dorky but it's really fun.

Inshallah the embassy will get back to you soon with good news (F)

Great news Meriem!!!!!!!!!! I am so very happy for you both!!!

The heat has left Michigan and been replaced today with rain :crying: .

It is my day off :D , but I like to go swimming on my days off.

I am off tomorrow too, hoping the weather clears up.

Then I am on a long 5 day (12 hour shifts) stretch. Dang I hope I make it. But gotta go with the overtime when it is available. Seems everyone is so sick sich the heatwave and the pressure is on to place patients!!!

We had one guy die yesterday that broke my heart. He was just 57 with COPD and had come down with pneumonia. He was a heavy smoker. He made a decision not to be intubated if he needed it and he died because his lungs were shot from smoking. No matter what we told him, he refused it. I felt so bad for his family.

(Hey sometimes my job has happy endings, yesterday was not one of them. Another thing, because of the new HIPPA regulations, we can't speak of patients, but I have not given out any person info on this family.)

Today I will wait to hear from my husband. He is in Casa giving them his passport. They told him to come back tomorrow. We are hoping he will have the visa!!!

Hugs

Nothing new here.

Per Bosco's gentle prodding, I've found a website to list my bookmarks publically, in case anyone is interested in what I find in my ramblings online. Plus, it helps that I'll be able to access my bookmarks when I'm on different computers, even if I travel out of the country.

http://public.sitejot.com/rahma.html

I'm going to add the link to my profile here. I haven't added a whole lot yet, but it's gonna be big ;)

Congrats Meriem, inshaAllah you guys will be home together soon!

Thank you, thank you, thank you Rahma (F) Just this morning out of boredom, I re-organized my own bookmarks and I was doing some browsing and thinking again how you always have the best links.

Just checked them quickly -- Islamic bookstore is not far from my house and I have purchased from them several times (expecting an order today in fact, lol, no time to drive over).

Mabrook Meriem! that's such a great feeling knowing they actually have visa in hand :)

Today is my day off didn't have to wake up at 4:15am

Once we did wake up we drank our coffee and watched the news and talked to the family in Jordan.

We decided to rearrange the dining room not sure if I like or not still thinking and looking to see if I will rearrange it a different way. Other than that will stay indoors where it's nice and cool!
