Poll on safety belts (Did I really just do this?)

Safety Belts

  1. 1. Should it be mandatory a small light be installed in the middle of all license plates? And if the driver of each vehicle is not wearing his seatbelt the bulb will light up and start flashing red. This would increase use of safety belts ten-fold IMHO and those that wish to disobey the law will be quickly spotted by police and ticketed. Should this go into law?

    • I just forwarded this thread to my congressperson. I am asking that he/she nominate you Safety Belt Czar ASAP!

Click it or ticket.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

If you define seat belt as the lap portion then I do, well unless I am in a car that is old enough not to have them or on a motorcycle. If you had your flashing lights I would get pulled over for not having my groceries belted several times a week.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

This reminded me of the terrifying (but funny...in hindsight only!!) cab ride in NYC. As we got closer to our hotel which happened to be a block away from a police prescint, the driver sort of slipped his arm through the seat belt and awkwardly held it loosely around the middle of his stomach (removing hands from 10 and 2!!!) As anyone who has ridden in a car in Manhattan knows they ignore lane lines! They dodge all sorts of things and are digital drivers - always zooming on the accelerator or slamming on the breaks and this guy's doing it one handed with no seat belt!

Then he got lost, and we knew better about where we were and where we were going than he did and I said "STOP THE CAR, I'M GETTING OUT HERE!!!" after about 3 turn arounds and he was still going the wrong direction.

The best man some how arranged for a big SUV and very local driver for the trip back to the airport, and it was much less nerve wracking. *sigh*
