Birth Certificate Translation

I have just received a letter in the post from the US Embassy informing me that they received my approved petition. They then gave me a link to what documents i need to collect. (I believe this is packet 3 then? I was waiting for an actual packet but all i got was a letter)

I have a Vietnamese Birth Certificate. This is what it says on the Embassys website :

Translations

All documents not in English must be accompanied by certified English translations. The translation must include a statement signed by the translator that state that the translation is accurate, and sworn to before a Notary Public.

I copied and pasted that from:

When they say "sworn before a notary public" Does that mean I got to get it notorized?

Thank you for moving my thread back. Does the person who notarizes the translation have to be able to speak Vietnamese and English too? I dont seem to be getting much help on this subject. Im going crazy!

Basically I am asking if The notary Officiant has to be the one who translates it? Or Can I get a friend to translate it and have a notary officant sign it?

I thought for a moment the London consulate had finally decided that the language they speak in the UK really wasn't English and they needed a translation. I supected that for some time

There is no place I could find to get a Vietnamese Translator who could notarize my Birth Certificate too!

Does anyone think it will be ok to scan in my Birth Certificate into the computer, send the scanned Birth Certificate to my Fiance in Texas so he could print it out and go get it translated by a Vietnamese Officiant there? They have Certified Vietnamese translators in Fort Worth! Scanning it and sending him the image via Email is so much quicker compared to sending my actual birth certificate in the mail and haev the risk of it being lost!
