As it turns out in my search for things that slow down the site I have realized that Mega threads do indeed slow down the forums when someone clicks on the little orange icon that brings you to the last read post. On the biggest MEGA THREAD this took quite a while to happen. I do not know how much this led to slow downs but to be safe I have close several and in some cases actually recreated the thread for you :).

As a note, congrats to the thread starters for those threads :). Great topics! Mega Threads are threads above roughly 2000+ posts. THe biggest was almost 6000! Wow!

I don't think anyone will miss them Ewok... how about making an automatic limit to the number of messages that can be in a thread? There isn't really any reason for the 'mega-threads' to even exist, and on most forums they can't because the thread will automatically shut up shop when it gets to about a thousand replies. If the participants REALLY want to keep going they can have Part 2, Part 3 etc. and the old ones can be let go to their rest.
