tax transcripts?

I ordered some pre-2008 tax transcripts over the phone earlier this year and received them in about a week.

2 weeks ago, I ordered my 2008 transcripts (again over the phone). The recording said 10-15 days. It's not here yet and I am worried.

Anyone seen similar problems ordering their transcripts recently? If I call them, do they have any records of when/if the one's I ordered have been mailed out already?

You should call them to see if they have a tracking number or anything. Typically they send this stuff certified mail because it contains personal information.

Mine were not sent certified mail and I got them in a few days. If you need them soon, they will fax them to you while you are on the phone with them as long as you are right next to it. You have to get someone on the phone but they will fax them to you. Or you can call and request them again to be mailed. The extension for tax returns was October 15th and they may just be really busy right now...

No, the ones I received earlier this year were mailed via regular cattle class. That's why I am a bit worried because if they were mis delivered, there's everything on that transcript to aid and abet in id theft.

Thanks for the tips. Trouble is I don't have a fax machine. I heard that they would give it to you if you go to a local irs office, can anyone confirm?

WRT tax return extensions, aren't they normally handled via the regional facilities that you normally mail your annual returns? The transcripts I got earlier this year came out of a facility in Philly.

Buy a cheap fax. Good to have.

The ones I ordered earlier this year came in 5 business days.

That's why I was wondering if something went wrong.

I guess, I'll give it a couple more days...

I would give it a couple more days...I ordered 3 transcripts in October, and for some reason only got one of the three that I had requested. So I called the IRS again last week and requested the ones that I needed again and just got them in the mail today.

If I were you, I'd wait until next week before requesting them again or calling customer service....

Actually, I don't remember the recording saying it was 10-15 "business" days, I thought they were referring to calendar days, which has passed already.

The scripts are still not here yet. Anyone else have similar experience recently AND seen them delivered very late? Did they eventually arrive? Or not at all?

Sounds like something may have gotten lost. Call again and ask for them to be faxed to you. Should happen in a matter of hours.
