You know, I understand the want/need to be as healthy as possible while growing a little one inside, but our parents didn't know alot of this stuff and we all seemed to come out ok! :P My sis was "allowed" by her doc to have a couple of glasses of wine/week - her kids are doing ok so far at 13 & 15 (& her hubby was a chain smoker). I doubt an occasional cigarette, diet coke and coffee are going to hurt the baby. Just take good care of yourself and keep your stress levels as low as possible at this time, you both should be fine. Best of luck to you girl! :star:(F)

Hey Angel! I'm considered "high risk" since I'm having twins and my doctor told me that as long as I'm not drinking the coffee Amr brought home with him (the good arabic coffee) that I can safely have a pot of coffee a day! That about put me in shock! So with my 2 cups of yucky american coffee and my diet cokes, I'm a happy little camper. He did say though that if my blood pressure starts to rise or if I develop any other medical conditions while pregnant I could have my caffine taken away.

Some doctors believe stopping the intake of things you normally consume suddenly is a shock on the system and can be equally as harmful, if you want to view it that way. My first pregnancy, a million years ago, I had gone out with friends after work before I knew was I pregnant and had a few mixed drinks. I tore myself apart with worry over it, but it's now turning 17 in 2 weeks and seems to be ok other then the usual teenaged insanities. Moderation, nutrition, and good sense go a long way.
