of you are mentioning now - the irresponsibility, the lying, the infidelity, the abuse etc., that I would NEVER ever find myself in a relationship with a worthless, good-for-nothing, no-sense-of-values Jamaican man again. (this is where you can all cuss me now).

No cursing but just for the record...we think the same way about our "american men"... I don't think it matter where they come from they are who they are. And never, ever, ever say never!

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

Try looking on sites like Jamaicans.com for info about Jamaicans in your area and things Jamaican....Where are you living?

I just logged on to jamaicans.com and clicked on bun and cheese recipes... now there is something akin to a Banshee wailing in my speakers! What the heck?? I clicked off not knowing if it was a virus or something. I'll try again later.

P.S.

Thanks Texas.

I agree I have been on this board for over a 1 year and most of the Veterans do run across similar experieces with their SO when they get here.

Oh my gosh really the conversation today is to stressful for me. Can we have some light hearted conversation. :ot: Who will blow there eggs middles out and color them and glue them to make people and colorfull things. Then I will put tasles on them and hang them on my Easter tree.

:luv:

DITTO THAT DITTO THAT DITTO THAT. I mainly come to this board for assistance with the demanding paperwork filings. It has been very helpful in the past for many working on Non Immigrant info. I hope the education regarding this will continue.

Hi Ladies,

I know it's kinda late but I wanted to share my two cents...if I may.

First off I read everyone posts and I believe everyone made sense depending on from what side of the coin you're looking from. When ppl seem to "generalize" it does bother me because not everyone is like that. I grew up in an household that used to diss American ppl daily. Heck, everyone in my family and all my friends used to say "Yankee this and Yankee that". At first it was ok but after sometime I felt like I had to defend myself b/c I AM a born USC. My friends would say "you flex different, you're one of us". Regardless of what side I take it boils down to the same thing..MEN taken from their surroundings are going to have problems adjusting.

I think the bottom line is you have to KNOW your man and his CULTURE!!!!! There is no way around that. I have been to JA countless times but only stayed in a hotel once and that was back in 2005. I have never done the "tourist" thing (well maybe Rose Hall as a child). When I go to JA I stay w/family way up in the country, or at my parents house in St. James. Javon usually come stays with me. Although I live here in Chicago I was raised on JA'n food their morals and values. My parents raised us differently.

My last trip I stayed at his house in Manchester and it was nice. I met his some of his family members and everyone couldn't believe I was an American. They asked me when I go a farrin? I think for us it's a little different b/c although we didn't spend a lot of time together I know his background and his past. One of his sisters and my aunt has been best friends since they were kids in Jonestown in Kingston. His family have known me from a child and vice versa. It's hard to know your man in a week or two but know how he TREATS everyone around him. As they say "show me your company and I'll tell you who you are". Very good statement to live by. I have learned a lot from his friends and his family to determine if he is worth a try. I have a trust issue...basically I don't trust NO ONE!!!! I had to make sure he was the one for me not based on what ppl say but what I see and feel.

Farrin things aren't new to Javon...he lived in Cayman for 10 yrs and is used to nice things. Although he's bashy he is also a very responsible man and believes in paying bills. While he was in Cayman he used to send me $$ weekly to help support me and my child. Since he's been back in JA of course he can't do it as he likes but he understands. Basically I'm saying there are good JA men out there. I have dated all foreign men from Africa, Haiti, all the way to JA. I love my JA'n men and will never change it for the world!!!! Although my husband is not currently here I don't see any real major issue except the way he spends his money. I can't complain because it will be his so he can do what he likes.

THANKS FOR SHARING ALL THE INFO. BUT I MUST ADMIT IT SOUNDS A LITTLE SCARY  I NEVER EVER THOUGHT THE ADJUSTMENT PROCESS OR THE RELATIONSHIP WOULD BE EASY. I KNOW IT WILL TAKE PLENTY OF PATIENTS AND ALOT OF WORK.

I LOVE MY JAMAICAN WITH ALL MY HEART... BUT I HAVE TO BE HONEST AND SAY THAT, NOW I AM WORRIED MORE THAN I EVER HAVE BEEN. I KNOW THERE WILL BE THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY. I ALSO KNOW THAT HE WILL CHANGE.... HE WILL HAVE TOO. I JUST PRAY THAT IT'S NOT FOR THE WORST.

SJB -- We are ALL so happy he is home. I think he is happier :jest: He doesn't want to go back for two years -- said JA hasn't gotten any better probably worse. He is still tired and said he needs a vacation to recover. Yup, he's a true American now.

Hello VJ family.

That's great. He sounds like Damien. I'm still trying to get him to go to JA this July. We're thinking about going back Dec 22-29. Let me know if any other VJers in be there.

and please PM me if you need bun and cheese for Easter...I'll mail them to you....courtesy from Damien and myself (L) .

Enjoy the weekend.
