I have a question - for the K1 VISA-do you have to own a house or other property or will your salary be suffecient proof of income?

I always thought it was just proving with your salary, but then I am about to buy a house and may or may not have closed by then so I thought "I bet the VJ friends will know!" hahaha

Your salary alone will be sufficient....Only way property comes into it is if your salary is below the minimum guidelines set ($16,500 for two people) you can then show ownership of property to help meet the requirements....

What if you just graduated from college so you meet the minimum now but haven't in the past (for obvious reasons)? How long should you wait to apply? 3 yrs?

i would think you would be ok....they really are only asking for the most recent tax year...so if you filled your 06 taxes and they are above poverty line you are good....w/ my interview she could have cared less about the past 2 years of taxes....and said they are ONLY requiring the latest taxes...

I don't have any close friends/family that would want to cosponsor Hopefully just the one-year of income will be ok

We waited 3 years after I graduated so I would have a good income to support him on. I didn't want the burnded of ask my parents to support us as a couple. When I started out teaching it was rough my first couple years so I decided go back to school and get my masters so we would be okay. Even with years of teaching under my belt It still took a lot of money for the visa application. This is just what we did and I know some couples want to be together now. Goodluck on your desicion.

Tony is running around in his shorts already . He must be excited that spring is on its way and summer is almost here. It has been 79 degrees here for the past 2 days wish it could stay . Even though I do miss winter I love snow and the snow helps the earth water supply. Rhonda please don't hit me B)
