For everyone that filed K1 - did you plan for and have a simple wedding soon after your fiance arrived? Did you do anything bigger later on? Were the guests mostly your friends and family?

Still planning ahead.

Before the wedding I had all these hopes and dreams of this big picture perfect wedding. After the wedding I could wish for nothing more. Small (4) guest. :D Including the photographer and the minister. We were married in a chapel here in town. May do something bigger for our 5 year anniversary in Jamacia.

Good morning VJ family. I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend.

Damien and I got married at the Justice of Peace. My mother, daughter and 4 closest friends witnessed our marriage. Then my family threw us a huge reception two months later. We plan to renew our vows on our 5th anniversary in JA.

Good luck on the wedding planning...it's so much fun.

That sounds really nice. I'd like to have had the wedding in JA, but nope, not allowed with the K1. So yeah, renewing vows there later would be sweet.

I understand. Damien proposed to me in July 2004...I planned a huge wedding in JA for October 2004... around 20 family members were ready to book their flights until I heard it could take a year for his visa to be approved. The distance between us started to take a toll on me emotionally and financially so we decided the K1 route. I never got my dream wedding in JA but being together sooner meant a lot more to us. I didn't plan a wedding here because Damien's family wasn't here to celebrate with us. His friends and family gave us a party last July. We have plenty of time to plan our second dream wedding.

Hi Dee.

I love your wedding pictures.....wish we had a chapel like that around here. Love the lake and the black and white pictures.

Hey, dosen't backgroud check and security clearance mean the same thing? We were told that they were still processing a background check on my hubby, that we should hear something within 6 months  ? A few months ago we were told by the congress person that he passed the security check. I'm confused.

If I file the AP will I have to do another boimetrics appointment?

Contact your congress person again. But yes, background check and security clearance conducted by the FBI are the same thing. No one but the FBI knows how long they will take. Some cases take a few weeks and others can take years. Good luck.

No biometrics for the AP, only for AOS and EAD.

Rhonda would you ever consider relocating for a better job? Check out this book from your public library Forty Days to the Work You Love by Dave Miller. This book is great for people who feel trapped by a job they don't want to be working for the rest of their lives. Anyone who wants a good read check it out.

I guess it just depends. I'm really close to my family so it would be really hard for me to move out of state. But if they retire and move upnorth (like they're thinking of) it may be a possibility. I'd like to move somewhere warm like Florida or the Carolinas. Tony says he doesn't like the cold weather either, but the past 2 days my crazy Jamaican was wearing shorts! :o:lol: And it was only in the upper 50's - lower 60's!!

Thanks for the book tip. I'll have to check it out.

Congrats  It sounds like fun. Don't forget the Jamaican tradition of Flouring your love one on his birthday. It's the funniest thing I have seen. We did it to my husband last year  . I don't know if a ten year old would enjoy that but how exciting for him he must be telling all his friends of his upcoming trip. :luv: You two have fun!

What is flouring? Never heard of it

I know what you mean. Me and Tony NEVER sleep together anymore because of my crazy work hours :crying: He sleeps at night and I sleep during the day - for over SIX months now :ranting:

Basically they throw a bag of flour over the birthday girl/boy :)

Can also be accompanied by holding the victim...oops birthday person....by the legs and arms and bouncing them on the ground one time for each year, then throwing them...hopefully onto either sand or grass
