I'm going to have something made. I have a cousin that sews, I plan to go to the fabric store sometime next week and go through a few patterns. I kind of have an idea of what I want. I want it to be short in the front (about knee length) and long in the back.

Wow, I was thinking something similar (short and long) but I'll save that for the big one next year. I'll probably get something simple, or simpler, for the small ceremony.

Going to have a register office thing afew days after I get there, was thinking of a no-hassle wedding in Jamaica maybe Feb. But then realized there will be maybe 30-40 people who would fly down, but most wouldn't stay at the hotel we were having it, so the issue would be buying day passes for all of them....sigh......Running out of ideas how to have an inexpensive wedding lol....

Good morning VJ family. I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend.

Damien and I got married at the Justice of Peace. My mother, daughter and 4 closest friends witnessed our marriage. Then my family threw us a huge reception two months later. We plan to renew our vows on our 5th anniversary in JA.

Good luck on the wedding planning...it's so much fun.

We got married in JA with a small wedding in August around 50 people. We had a villa and also had guest passes to a hotel near by. It was cheaper for my 17 family members to stay in a villa than a hotel.

We are renewing our vows this August on the farm. We will be having a pig roast with IPOD music very cheap. My parents use to be floweriest so they are doing flowers for cheap, my friend does cakes( 1/2 off), I have friend as a minster so he is free, and like a potluck style bring a dish. If you are trying to save money. If you did a K-1 visa I don't think you can go to Jamaica once you get here. You have to stay here until the green card I think is received. I planned my wedding in 4 months. If you get dresses for bridesmaids the separates you can get quick. I got my dress quick also. Best wishes on all the weddings. I think the back yard sounds great and Las Vegas sounds like fun. All the best on the planning.

Met Jan 1998, vows on 2006, Jay Jay born 2008, baby 2 - 2011

That sounds really nice. I'd like to have had the wedding in JA, but nope, not allowed with the K1. So yeah, renewing vows there later would be sweet.
