I just got a e-mail from TexasBound... She has been approved :dance::dance:

She said she is having trouble posting here, but that she would be back next week.

Congratulations!

Can't wait to hear all about it.

CONGRATS to Texasbound!!!!

:)

Thanks for the info and advice. He took his medical two weeks before our last interview in February and the paperwork says a medical is good for one year, so I dont know what this letter is about. I am going to write to the embassy and hopefully they will give me an answer.

Okay..that is strange. Please let us know their response. Good luck.

My fiance received his letter for the interview today. In it they sent new copies of the DS230 Par I and II, which I have already done on line, but they also sent a blue slip and written in bold letters it said that he had to report to the embassy doctor BEFORE going to a clinic for his medical. Now he has already done his medical at a clinic in Kingston for our last interview and I am hoping that this is not something that has to be done before next week. Every time I start to relax and feel confident they throw something new at us. Any advice would be appreciated.

Sorry, no clue. What is the "Embassy Doctor?" Never heard of that one before. I would e:mail (every five minutes if necessary) and keep calling them until you get an answer.

Do you guys run into these type of family members?

Congrats on the house!!

Sounds like most of my family. Roy has been here a year and we still haven't been out "in public" with my parents -- or anyone else in my family for that matter. At least they are now cordial to him....they weren't in the beginning. Hopefully she will come around -- if not, it's really going to be her loss for not getting to know the man that you love and want to spend your life with.

Most of our Embassies have doctors and a full medical staff. They serve the Embassy staff, American citizens abroad and the children of the hosting country...depends on their budget.

My family and most of my friends have been extremely supportive from day one. Some of my co-workers and other friends always have something negative to say but it doesn't bother me anymore. I think they are surprised that we are happy and still together.

Good luck, I hope everything went well!

If our intention is to have my fiance's children follow him later, what documentation does he have to provide in terms of custody or approval?

In our case. We needed a letter from the absent parent giving permission to trave/ immigrate and make sure your fiance's name is on the birth certificate. We revieved a blue slip because we did not have his name on the birth certifate, they wanted us to bring, pictures of my hubby and his daughter, birth records where his name was listed, and school records, anything showing a father child relationship, well we had none of those. So as soon as our immigration hell is over. I will start over from scratch with a blood test as we have no physical evidence. I hope that helps.

Oh my goodness, I'm sorry that you and your husband have to go through all of that. :(

I decided on that house. My granny and I went to look at it today. It's a special gem. I really could see us not living there. My granny lives 10 minutes away and I couldn't live that close to her. She is so against our marriage. Divorce is what she says will become of us. We aren't like my parents she said who have been married for 35 years. She asked why isn't he here yet shouldn't he be. You have been waiting since you got married and he could try a little hard to be here with you. If he loved you he be here now. I said the visa takes a while. Right now the negativity makes me not want to live next to her. A bad in law for us would spell bad news. She was negative about helping full fill his dream of college and told me he should pay and let him go into debt. This small minded woman has left a bad taste in my mouth. Do you guys run into these type of family members?

I'm sorry that you're in this position with your grandmother, having to defend your relationship. When I was getting in deep with my fiance, a few of my friends sat me down and told me about their concerns about the relationship and I also had to defend my relationship. That was one of the things that made me feel even stronger about the relationship, knowing that I was able to defend it with no doubts. It helped me to realize that I was absolutely serious and that I knew what I was doing. Maybe it would be helpful to see it that way.

I agree, though, that it would not be helpful to have someone that critical that close to you, it could cause problems.

Thanks for the info and advice. He took his medical two weeks before our last interview in February and the paperwork says a medical is good for one year, so I dont know what this letter is about. I am going to write to the embassy and hopefully they will give me an answer.

He should NOT need another medical. The paperwork is probably just the standard paperwork they send to everyone trying to get a Visa. Since he just had his medical, I would disregard this.

Oh, I was confused too  The first couple sentences you wrote made me think you'd decided to move there! Hopefully grandma will come around once he gets here. My parents were very against my whole relationship - but once Tony got here and they got to know him, they came around

All your forms should be typed -- just to make it easier on the people who are looking over them. Look at the amount of papers these people need to go through -- you might think your handwritting is excellent but to someone else it might be hard to read and that would just give them a reason to give you a hard time.

 This is so true! We all think we have the best hand-writing :P

It's not easy. The Embassy is not fair. But if YOU do everything in YOUR power to give them what they are asking for there is no reason you will not get approved.

Truer words have never been spoken  You have to eat, sleep, and breathe Visa forms for about 6 months! Then when it's all over, you feel such a relief! Until the next set of forms begins!
