Aren't you glad we are done with this part? Did you file the AOS yet?

HAHAHA...you are tttooo funny.....ya i am in the process of doing that....getting all the bills changed...what fun!!! once i get the new bills with his name on it then i will send the stuff in....one negative thing about waiting so long...but i am glad i did wait....

how are things going for you guys???

It is going good. A big adjustment but I am lucky he puts up with me. I didn't change anything to his name (bills) and sent in the packet. I will do something of it now before the interview.

I just wanted it there to start the process.

Somethings are a pain in the butt like him being taken advantage of. I have to go with him just about everywhere because he doesn't know if they are right or not.

One thing is he is getting use to the cold. He will come out of the house now. :)

All in all things are good.....

Is Mike adjusting?

mike is doing fine....it is hard for him at times and sometimes it does feel like i am taking care of a child...you know he learned the bus schedule by himself but then the next day he calls me at work to ask how the oven works...he knows how it works he had one in JA....so it is little things like that...but for the most part he is doing better then i expected....

Ok. Not getting your fee back if they don't approve the visa..... That's just evil!

But, I won't put those negative thoughts out there..... we will be approved

Is the paymaster near the embassy?

Thanks

Bert had to adjust to an electric stove, he is used to gas at home and on the ship. He has done so many things around my house for me. He is lucky in respect to he has a car already. He needs it for work and we found a decent one pretty cheap so he can go where he pleases.

When opening a bank account does he have to wait for his permanent SS# or can he do it with the one he has now?

Tonight we go back to the DMV to take his learners permit test. They gave him a hard time Monday regarding having enough ID's so back we go.

Ok. Not getting your fee back if they don't approve the visa..... That's just evil!

Paymaster is everywhere. Just make sure you have the receipt.

I feel bad for the poor Jamaicans who try for visitors visas and if they go in November and December they have already reached their quota and everyone is refused... Such a dirty trick.....

WE ARE DONE!!!

LovinJA Im glad to see you are near the end of your journey as are many of us the next few weeks. The Paymaster has many locations in Jamaica, your sweetie will be able to find one no problem. Ask him & he will know....usually the city. Settle down. Go ahead an book the flights but be prepared to re schedule if necessary. Im surprised you havent booked yours sooner. I had to book mine last month & they still ran over $1k + we booked JA to JFK to Dallas. So you know the cost & hotel stay in NY will be costly---but we feel it will be worth it. At this point, just make sure your packet is ready & current, pay the $100 fee & wait. Good luck, Im sure you will be fine as the rest of us will.

Make sure your DS156 has the barcode, & make 2-3 copies of every government document.

The medical questionaire was retained by the Medical Doctor. You don't need a extra one he sends it back in the medical packet to the Embassy. But very good advise to make extra copies of all government forms. Make sure you have enough passport photos. We needed 4 at the interview.

Where is the paymaster and when do we have to pay the fee? Is this something we do at the Embassy right before the interview, or does this have to be done a week or so in advance? Also, what happens in the event that the visa is not approved, or there is a dely? Do they give you your money back?

Thanks to all of you for welcoming me and offering your insight!

We paid our visa fee a the embassy right before our interview. Most other people paid at a paymaster prior to the interview.

They do not give your money back in the event of a denial. I think it's a way of generating revenue. We have the reciept from when we paid for my hubby's daughter's visa. We were told it's still useable, but for how long is the question.

I read somewhere that the fee is good for one year.

Are there paymasters at different locations, or is there only one? Never mind, saw the answer as I continued reading.

I am flying from Atlanta, and directly back to Atlanta. The prices are pretty reasonable now. The lowest I've found is $290 roundtrip. I read somewhere that JFK issues the temporary work stamp. Is that why you are flying into JFK? That may be the better route to go if thats the case. Is there a way I can find out if the Atlanta airport issues them?

Great advise about the copies of the gov't docuements!

What $100 fee are you referring to? I know the visa fee is $335, but is there another fee that I should be prepared for?

May we all have success this month!!!

The visa fee is $100. Don't pay the $335. That is a mistake.

JFK is the only POE that will give you the temporary stamp.

You are lucky you get cheap fares. I rarely do out of Boston and when I flew Bert home it was $400 one way...

WE ARE DONE!!!

FLIGHT: Yes, the only reason why I would fly around the country is just for that one little stamp. Believe it or not, JFK is the only port of entry that provides is regularly. You can go to: Working & Traveling prior to getting a Green Card (this link is on the main page under forums) You can research there.

Visa Fee is $100.00

I dont know what $335 fee you are talking about......maybe you are thinking about after marriage for the AOS----------Can anyone out there confirm that.
