I just called my mother in-law she said my hubby got his medical done last week. Hmm confused I thought he needed a appointment letter for an interview. Could he of done this? I know he knows people at MoBay Hospital. If he got this done now are we okay? He is going to Kingston finally on Wed to get police records. I wish he wasn't working in Sav La Mar so I could find this out. Has anyone got a medical without a letter? Hopeful Mom In Law was wrong.

no i dont think u can do that.the doctor i went in kingston wouldn't let a girl to take the medical without her letter.while she was there someone called to tell her they had received her package in the mail. They asked if they could fax the letter to the doctors office and thats the only way she could have her medical done.

Whoops his mom was wrong. I think she is just excited and nervous and sad all at the same time. He got his medical to get his drivers licenses this week. He said he has a good deal to get it at 50 dollars US. He thinks he will be able to driver here on it too. hmmm

Did he get the JA driver licence or the int'l one? I verified it w/the DMV last year here in Cook county and was told they can drive on the JA license for 90 days (I think). It was something like that and w/it you can apply for a license here w/o taking classes. My brother-in-law got his that way.

Bert can drive here in Massachusetts for one year with his Jamaican license.

WE ARE DONE!!!

I'm not sure who posted the question about visitor visa's but I am hearing more and more getting approved. And not based on age or "ties" to JA for that matter. I know of 4 people alone that are in their 20's and have no land or business's in JA. I couldn't tell you the similarity between the cases becuase I don't see any from my point of view. I just wanted to say that I see more individuals getting approved and not based on the "guidelines" people usually state.

May I recommend even if they ask if your aware or witnessed your spouse ever smoked...DENY!

Also, may I add that in no way do I feel all Jamaicans smoke weed. :)

Thanks Anna and Darlene for the information on the drivers license. I will call the DMV when he gets here or we can walk over and see. The place is only a few blocks from here.

How is everyone doing? I joined the Dave Ramsey plan so I can really learn how to budget. Needing to get rid of credit cards and pay for everything in cash. Has anyone else tried his plan on budgeting and investing? Did your guys budget change once your SO's got here? What did u do to make it work? I am just getting so worried.

Do you guys have any good Jamaican meals you make from scratch that our cheap? How did your grocery budget do when they arrived?

My husband has internet at his house so we chat on line frequently. They just got wireless system hooked up at his house and on my last trip I left him my lab top computer. I have one work lab top and a desk top at home so it was possible to leave him mine.

I think that internet in JA is rare at home but bigger cities have net cafes.

Embassy signed for package today from NVC...does the embassy mail packet 3 still or does it have to be picked up through appointment? If so, how do we know of appointment? I know lots of things have changed..thanks

Congrats :dance::dance:

They will mail packet #3 but, chances are you probably won't get it. At least I know we never did. You can e-mail them or try calling them to make an appointment to go pick it up.

I'm still waiting on packet #4 which I was told today when I called the Embassy that it was mailed on Feb 12th

I'm hoping that it arrives soon because his medical appointment is on 3/5

No interview yet thanks for asking. Do you have to call and ask if they have sent out package 3 and 4? Is there packages for the CR1 visa?

Greetings,

I would like to first say I've been reading the posts in this forum for about 4 months. I nevered bothered registering, but felt like I was already apart of the family! I have celebrated with all of you as milestones were met, and felt your pain in attempting to get through to the Embassy on Mon. and Fri. between 1:30 and 3:30.... :crying: !!! So, I must say thank you to all for sharing your experiences. You will never know how many people just like me you are helping, because we haven't registered on the site, but we tune in daily or weekly to keep up with the events.

So, this is my first post! As brief background, I filed the I-129F Petition for K1 late Aug.06 for my fiance. He is in Jamaica. We met in Ochi in Dec. 04, and knew we wanted to spend our lives together by July 06. It has been very difficult being apart, long phone conversations, and very high phone bills. He doesn't have access to the internet, so we are doing what we have to do until we can be together. I must say, the process has been pretty smooth for us (I'm sure its because of all the great advice I've gotten from this site). Our I-129F package was accepted and approved with no incident. However, I must say, once our package arrived at the Embassy in Kingston, there was an instant halt to the progress for a few weeks. We fell into that timeframe where they were moving, so although it was sent to Kingston at the beginning of Dec., there was no action again until the middle/end of January, and that was only because after several calls and not getting through, I finally left a heated message on someone's voicemail threatening to escalate until I got some answers. Surprisingly, my fiance got a call an hour later. Now, after more calling, on Friday (2/23/07) I got through to a live person and was told that our interview letter was sent on Feb. 12th (but my fiance never received it), and our interview is scheduled for March 27th! Long sigh of relief.... My finace is going to the embassy tomorrow to pick up the package that never arrived in the mail. So, I am in the process of organizing everything for the interview, and am so excited to finally know when I will see my honey again. We've been putting off plans for my visit because we were anticipating the interview.

I have celebrated with each of you who have received interview dates, and those of you who have successfully gotten through the interview. I have also come close to tears on some of the sadder news that has been shared. I must say, those of us that go through this process are very strong people, and we need to acknowledge that strength and perserverence in our character. If we can get through this, we can accomplish anything!

I look forward to sharing with you all as we continue our journey. If anyone that is just starting out needs any information or advice, I would be happy to share, as so many of you have shared with me. Good luck to all with interviews in the coming weeks! Stay focused on your love and know that all will be well.
