Hello Yardies

I still haven't convinced my fiancee to stay in Kingston over night yet... But I started thinking.... Maybe I'll just rent the room in Kingston now, and he'll have to go because I'll have already paid fo it. Well that plan went out the window...

I looked up some hotels near the embassy last night... They are all booked up :o I can't even get a room for one night.. Does anyone here know the area well enough to suggest some other places that are close by to stay at :help:

Courtleigh, Terra Nova, Altamont Court, not sure if the Chelsea Hotel is still in operation, it's not as fancy as the rest but it's clean and fairly near too...

Thanks UKGirl I'll look into those as well, I think most are full due to the World cup Cricket games. I searched some more yesturday, and still came up with nothing. This is right up his alley, when we talked yesturday, I brought it up again and his response was the same, No worries we'll be fine... Everyting will be cris

Oh my goodness!! I can't mix alcohol and sugar together at all. The drinks you guys have been talking about sound good. But if I drank those things.... I'd be sick sick sick :( Mixed drinks do agree with me, I have to drink my alcohol straight

Good morning Sonshyne and Rhonda and AlienUKGirl :energetic:

For those that have asked about the Yahoo group- we mainly use that to post pics. It's not as active as it used to be :blush:;

as I remember, you have to ask Ms. Squitto for an invite. I'm not sure if anyone else can let you join that group.

we stayed across the street at the Sunset Inn for $60, I think. It was really safe, clean and closer to the Embassy (before they moved). The only problem was that the front desk staff was extremely rude...but it served its purpose.

<I think> that's where Julie & Michael stayed too......get in-touch with Kelly. She will be able to help. It's a great idea to pay ahead -- then he will have no choice

Yes, Julie and Michael stayed there also. The website is www.sunsetinn-ja.com...nothing special but a clean place to lay your head.

I would check with Kelly first.

Good morning VJ family.

Hey FutureMrs

1) I always bring my own food with me...only cuz there's a lot of American foods I like that are just too expensive in JA (especially good ol American cereals, lol).

2) Where in the countryside are you talking? I'm from Mandeville and when I was there last summer some business places did accept my Visa. Also, the ATm machine at ScotiaBank allowed me to withdraw money (but be prepared for a US$1 something ATM fee per withdrawal)

3) Sure! They shouldnt question you about those at customs...unless they're still in the original packaging...then they might think you are bringing them to sell

4) If I were you I'd take them out the packages. You're not traveling with a man so the customs agents may think you are going to resell them.

Hope this hels :)

I agree you can bring your own food. Also when they ask you if you have any add'l items...make sure you say NO that way they won't check you. When I go down I usually bring down tons of stuff for my family and Javon's son and I never have to pay anything except when I leave here b/c my luggages are always over weight.

Hey Marie, those ATMs out there are rip offs. The rates are a lot more then the Cambios.
