My sweetie has joined the club of those who REFUSE TO STAY in Kingston overnight. We'll be driving at the crack of dawn to our interview for about 2.5 hours. Gotta love it! I dont understand but there must be good reasoning to not stay there. Sad.

I wonder what the reason is because, I suggested to my fiancee today that we should go to Kingston the day before and spend the night..... And he said no, that we would leave about 3:00 in the morning and drive there :o It's a 4 hour drive!

Hello everyone,

I think that Kingston can be very scary to some of our country men. But with all the times that Ricardo has had to go back and forth because of this visa he is now feeling more comfortable so I guess I am lucky. Next Sunday I am flying into Kingston and we will be staying at the Hilton for three nights. I hope that the interview is worth the cost!

Abbreviated Time Line

4/06 * Started the process with Vermont

6/06 * Get approved in US

8/06 * Found out from Embassy our package #3 is lost in the mail (one month),

Ricardo drives to Kingston to pick up duplicate (before you needed appointment to do so)

9/06 * Finally reach the embassy by phone and told- no date for interview until November

10/06 * Receive package and date for INTERVIEW November 9, 2006

11/06 * Ricardo waits too long to get police report -- we cant do our interview

12/06-1/29 *** We wait for our new interview date while the embassy moves and

re-organizes???

1/29/06 * NEW INTERVIEW DATE 2/27/07

Messed up the 156 Got turned away at first window, no interview

3/1/06 ** THIRD INTERVIEW DATE 3/27/07

3/27/07 !!!!!!!VISA APPROVED!!!!!!!

4/10/07 * Ricardo picked up VISA at Montego Bay Airpack

4/22/07 ***Ricardo is here!! Pinch me so I know I am not dreaming!!!!!

7/6/07 ** We are married (waited almost full 90 days).

7/14/07 * Mailed out AOS

7/30/07 * Received NOA's for EAD and AOS dated 7/25/07 and Biometrics appt. 8/17/07

10/3/07 * Received EAD card in the mail dated 9/25

some quick advice to all of those with upcoming interviews....i HIGHLY HIGHLY recomend you stay in kingston because trust me it will put some of your worries to rest!!! when we had our interview mike wanted to go that morning...but after a lot of yardies saying it is better to stay i pushed the issue with mike and he aggreed....his big concern was spending a lot of money on a hotel but kelly hooked me up with a great rate...anywho...the point to my story is a couple of days before JA had gotten a lot of rain and on ouw way to Kingston mike lived in Oracabessa the main road had flooded out....no way we could get through it...luckily a guy was behind us who knew the backroads to kingston...the point is if we had left at 3 am like we were going to i am pretty sure we would have missed our interview because of the road and i doubt anyone would have been on the roads at that time and know that back way....i really really truly recomend staying in kingston the night before...that way you can get all the ####### together and have some calm time....knowing you are there...and it is super easy to get a taxi ask the security gurad at the front gate and he will call someone for you!!!!

I agree with you 100% I don't understand why he doesn't want to stay the night there

But trust me I'll be working on him until he agree's with me  Hopefully he'll see things my way.

Good Day everyone have a fabolus 3 day weekend. It is Presidents day on Monday here. Oh and I figured out the other holiday in JA its Ash Wed. I knew there were a couple holidays this week just didn't know the days.

I am hoping its easier this time calling the embassy today.

Hopefully they'll have your date for you :thumbs:

No Date yet and I won't be able to call next with the Holiday. It takes forever to get someone too I kept dialing the number for like 2 hours today until I got someone and on normal days I don't have 2 hours to call. It is just crazy I tell you.

I am up so late miss my husband and all that jazz. Its very hard to be seperated and we hardly talk with our work schedules. He works night I work days. Plus now he has a studio job going on.

I also told him that I had a vision to move back to JA in 10 to 15 years. I would retire early here and go teach teachers college to students going into music education. My proffesor said she could hook me up with a job at that college. So this is just a possible and a vision. My hubby said he would think about it. My vision is we would get paid less but the oppurtinty for music down there is great for us.

My question is would any of you guys think about moving back to JA for retirement?

I think about retiring there all the time. I have my eyes on this small hotel I want to buy. I would love to run a small bed and breakfast. I am a teacher now so I dont want teach when I retire. I want something different. But I think the guys want to be here, not there! We've got few years to work on them though.

Weird Paranoid Question: You guys always write to me when I have a problem or a question and give me great advice and I am grateful. I have made a few friends and we Pm each other but no one seems to write back to me when I write here just generally. I am a weird? Am I rude? Have I offended anyone? Or am I just paranoid because our interview is one week away???

My husband said yes we could move back last night but I think he was really tired after work. He is thinking about it for now. He said he is only coming here for me and wouldn't stay if I wasn't here. It took him forever to make his mind up and come here. When your a musician from JA it is best to say there you get more gigs and can still visit the world on tour. I know many guys would not want to go back at all.
