Hello all. I just discovered this site and WOW, what a great resource!! I wish I would of found it sooner. Anyway, I just returned from Jamaica and my body went into shock when i got off that plane (Chicago) to feel this freezing weather. However, I found delight when I reached home to find my NOA2 approval in the mailbox!!! Now my mind is racing with all the things I must do/think about now. Just a few questions...I know the embassy has moved and some of the policies have changed..how will my fiance receive packet #3? will he get a phone call? mail notification or will he need to pick it up from the embassy? I hope this is the right place to post...I'm new here so any guidance would be appreciated.

Welcome Finesse!!

The embassy will mail package #3 to your fiancee. Alot of us had our fiancee's go pick them up. They mailed packet #3 out to my fiancee on Dec. 29.... He never got it. After your case reaches Kingston, you can call or e-mail them and request a appointment to go pick it up.

I think you've gotten the deal of the year  I thought about applying for a part time job at the airport just to get the discounts that they offer the employees

FutureMrs ---is that standby or positive space?

Sonshyne, working for an airline in any capacity............you fly FREE, but it's mostly standby, which trust me......stinks bigtime, ESPECIALLY during holidays like spring break time OR when you *have* to be somewhere and flights aren't so sold out. I worked in the airline industry for 6 years (before becoming a travel agent) ....and I flew ALOT and have been everywhere, I took BIG TIME advantage of my FREE flying benefits. Now that I have to buy tickets, stinks. Being a travel we don't get "cheap" flight benefits, but having direct access to all the airlines is bonus because we can see who has the best deals, etc....most of the times before the general public does.

happy weekend, everyone...

i hope you are all somewhere warm. it is freezing here in iowa and i'm getting cabin fever...i do, however, now have all the time in the world to sit in the house and obsess over whether or not we have everything put together properly for our interview (march 6)...is everyone else with interview dates freaking out, too?!?! :)

a couple more questions...

1.) what-all needs to be notarized in the paperwork we're taking to the interview? i know that the affidavit of support stuff needs to be, but does that include bank statements and miscellaneous supporting documents like that? or is it just the i-134 form, job letter, bank letter and taxes...? and is it pretty much just the financial stuff that needs to be notarized, or is it everything we're taking...?

2.) how much is the courier service for the delivery of the visa?

3.) what did you all take for "evidence/proof of engagement"? we have tons of "evidence of ongoing relationship" stuff, but i'm not sure what they're looking for as far as proof of the actual engagement...i have a ring, and i think we can come up with the receipt for that...is there anything else we should get?

my brain is fried...any perspective or help you guys could give would be GREATLY appreciated!

I have a friend who flies standby, it sounds like a nightmare to me. I don't have enough patience for that  Oh well there goes that thought

Okay I am going to call the USA embassy in Kingston tomorrow what will be the chances of getting hold of someone in a 1/2 hour? Should I email them? Is it time to call them they recieved my info on 1/24. Or maybe should I have the sentors office contact them?

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Chances should be pretty good. What time is your break?? I took a break at about 11:30 the last 2 mondays in a row and was able to make contact. I think that by 11:30-12:00 the calls kind of slow down.

I plan to call again myself tomorrow, I've got my fingers crossed, hopefully one or all of us calling tomorrow will get the info we're calling for.

Sonshyne all the best with calling my break is from 12:05 until 1:05 central time. I just call and ask about my case number and if they have an interview yet. Is that all I need?

I will adopt anyone :D

And yes it is stand-by but I am prepared! It is US Airways and if there are any seats in First Class, it's only $20.00 to upgrade, I've never flown first class hmmmmm....

Yes, the deal of the century! I am very grateful, I didn't plan on returning to Jamaica until May but for some reason an idea popped into my head to go since I don't have class. Back to roughing it but I am so looking forward to it!

On a sad note, my oldest sister is in the hospital. She went in last night with bad respitory problems, almost like my mom had before she passed. Pam is stable for now but on a ventilator. My oldest sister Cindy the RN from Kansas City is flying in tonight or tomorrow to kick some ICU butt cuz I guess they are not doing the right treatment on my sister. I asked God to please not take my sister from me as he already took my mom less than 4 months ago. Please pray for me and I will keep you all posted.

Thanks and God Bless!

You should be ok just keep calling back to back. Once you get someone on the phone tell them you are calling to see if they've assigned your case an interview date and give them the case number. Hopefully you get some good news!

Thanks to everyone for welcoming me....I really thought I was alone in this venture before I found this site. I must return to work tomorrow after a wonderful trip to Jamaica. I went 5 times last year and every time I went I felt like I was going to feel ok when I returned home just to find myself in this sadenned yet euphoric and refreshed state of mind. And tomorrow my co-workers will ask 'how was your trip?' and i will say 'nice' but i'll be thinking 'if you only knew'...its like i couldn't even put the joy/happiness into words. Ahh well such is life....soon my baby will be here...in the meantime i'll be planning my next trip.
