Mindy thanks for the help on the drivers license. I think I will go pick up the booklet for him to study for the test. Then I can be the driving instructor for a week and he can go take the driving test. How is driving school going for Roy?

He has one more lesson (that we paid for) -- we are saving it until he is ready....actually, he is probably ready I am just such a FREAK when it comes to him driving. If he gets his license there is no reason why he can't drive himself to work......that's when I will lose my frickin' mind.

As Anna said, if you are ready after you take the written exam there is no reason why you can't go take the driving test immediately.

FYI -- don't hold me to this...but....on the Illinois test (at least in December) all the answers were True (the driving instructor told me this but I didn't tell Roy)

He would have to return and with what is going on at the Embassy now a days it who knows how long the delay could be. He has time to apply and have it expidited. It will cost a bit more but at this point worth it.

Actually, I'm not quite sure if they're going to accept your paperwork without it...I think they need to be able to know if he is free to marry right then...the rest of the interview would be pointless in my opinion...unless you two are already married and u're filing for a K-3 or CR-1....I would get it as soon as possible if I were you...trust me, these people are crazy and will LIE LIE LIE!!!!

How long after you get the Soc Security card does it take to get a drivers licenses in IL. Can he go to drivers school? OR Does he need to drive so many hours with a licensed driver?

Asking this question ahead of time because I know he wants to drive real bad.

My brother-in-law came up on a visitor visa and got married to my sister. After he recv'd his ss card he went up to the DMV and took the written test and got the license the same day. There's no wait time or drivable hrs.
