Kim , things will work out, just ensure that he communicates with his kids as often as possible. Phone bills use to be a killer for us both but with voice over Ip my daughter and myself are in constant contact with her father whenever she wants .Homework is now his responibility : This helped him a whole lot and help to reduce the frquency of his trips, hope this helps.

Shar

Can,t seem to learn how to post a new topic in the Yardie threads. Just stupid me :no:

I think someone on this thread introduced it to me. Thank you!!

Hi Guys!

WOW! You all sound like things are doing so well. I couldn't keep track of all the blessings. I know Julie is about to have the lil bundle of joy, Squitto got a great job, some new men have arrived to be with their sweeties, weddings are planned or have already occurred. Wow. That's all great news. Keep it up ladies. You're a great network that is much needed during this process. And if you ever (finally) plan a link up, please keep my posted. I know Anna, Popcorn, Shemanya or Jamie will keep me in the loop.

Love to you all!

Hello everyone :luv: I'm back to work now. My 3 days off flew by! At least I had a lot of fun. I went to a street fair w/ my mom and sister on Friday and then a dinner and a comedy club with Tony and his JA friends. On Saturday we went shopping then dinner out again, then rented some movies and chilled. Sunday we went to the community pool and got some sun and hung in the pool for awhile. Then my mom made dinner for Tony's birthday. His birthday isn't until August 16, but we celebrated early since I have to work this coming weekend :(

By the way, I told Tony about his "surprise" birthday present - trip to Jamaica! He is so excited  At first he couldn't even believe it - he thought I was just joking with him! :P The only bad part is EVERY time we go down there now, we have to spend SO much money buying stuff for everybody  That's why we spent Sat. shopping. We bought his 2 kids tons of clothes and 3 pairs of shoes each. We bought his dad and one of his cousin's gifts. Still have to find something for his mom and 2 nieces. Help :help::wacko: Every time we go to JA it costs us a TON!!!

Glad everyone is well. Julie - good luck with delivery :luv:

Thanks everyone for the uplift. I do feel better now. I called him today and we talked and decided that he will come here and if he does not like it he can go back home. What will happen after that I don't know. We've decided that we will cross that bridge when we come to it. So things are back to being somewhat normal.

He'll be fine once he get's here; don't even worry about him not liking it. Afterall he'll be with you. It will take some time to adjust; but they always do. Maybe one day when you can really retire you'll make JA a winter home :)

We don't have to pay any extra money to bring the stuff. Jamaican citizens are allowed to bring (I think) $500 worth of gifts / items in when they visit. I'm not sure of the exact dollar amt. but I think it's $500. I would rather buy stuff for the kids and bring it down to them than just send her (baby's mama) money. Who knows what she does with it?

 -don't I know it. It'll be really nice for him to see his children though. How's his son doing now?

His son is doing well. Thanks for asking. I know he's excited to see the kids and all his family and friends. I just wish we could stay longer than just 4 nights.

Hey CJ (F)

Thanks everyone for well wishes

Hubby has a job interview at 10:30am, immediately following AOS interview (8:30am)! I am praying that all goes quick. The employer was nice and said if we are running late then she will see him on Thursday but he doesn't want to miss any more days of school than necessary  he's more nervous (and excited) about the job interview than AOS

Shar - good luck tomorrow

I told him that my calling cards were costing me more that he arrived then before when he was in Jamaica!!!:whistle:

But......I can't complain, I would probably be doing the same thing and I just keep hoping that he will continue to get more settled in and call less frequently!! So..you have re-assured me......Thanks!! :luv:

If I'm not mistaken, Talk America has long distance and international plan where calls to JA (landline and cell) are about 18 cents a minute (unless they went up). A friend of mine has it and I have yet to see such a low cost plan.

Thanks Jonesie-

Shauna..aka Nannygirl hooked me on a plan called: ohello.com

Phone cards can be purchased through them via phone or on-line. It is .18 cents per minute (cell phone) and .11 cents for land line......the best price, service and connection that I have found yet. You can pre-program the pin number, your phone number and contact phone numbers. Also, the connection is sooo clear that you rarely have any issues getting through and can hear very clearly!!! If you call them , tell them Shauna or Kim referred you.....we get referral minutes!!:yes::thumbs::yes:

Hi Michele!!!

Thanks for reminding us about Shar's interview tomorrow and Jonesie's Wednesday !!!

Good luck Shar and Jonesie!! We are with you girls!!!:thumbs:

Rhonda, I totally understand. My last trip in Dec cost me over $3000. I was broke when I got back so this year I said I'm going for a few days and not even my parents know I'm going. I feel bad but I just can't afford it and I don't have to guts to tell them I don't have it. Some will understand but others will "chat you" and I don't really have the time or the energy to deal with that this time.

Actually it don't cost anything. When they ask you if you're bringing anything for anyone just say no.

That is how it has to be sometimes. Henry has done it and so has a few other folks I know. We had someone drop out of our wedding after he contemplated what it would cost him in gifts.
