Exactly what IS this "man-juice" I hear ya all talking bout? Perhaps we need some of that in our fam. ;)

Hey Jill -- It's basically "pumped-up" carrot juice. He takes carrots (that he boils until soft then puts in the blender), Supligen (Ensure-Vanilla), Irish Moss (in the can - it's a "energy" drink that we get at the Jamaican store -- I'm not quite sure what to compare it to as a U.S. product -- it's pretty gross), condensed milk, vanilla and nutmeg powder -- that is the basic juice that the dog gets. Roy then adds a can of Guiness to his.

I'm praying my hubby and the dogs bond. He's finally gotten over the fact that yes, they are sleeping in the house once he's here, as they would be heart broken to be tossed outside.

I know what you mean! Tony was not at all used to the idea of having a dog in the house. He likes the dog but says he would like him better if he stayed outside :o<_< I told him I was going to put HIM outside before I put the dog out  The dog was here first!! Actually the biggest issue he has is the dog hair. I guess I need to start vacuuming and cleaning more

Lola, the "mongrel" (as Roy calls her) sleeps in bed with us.....go figure....

I called NVC about my missing DS230 form it was a computer error. They said they are reviewing the case right now and it should be done in 2 to 4 more weeks

That's great! At least you know they have it, there's no problems and they are "working on it." Yipee!!

She then told us they got approved and off we went. The whole process was painless, yet nerve racking!

Congrats  I don't think they had any private rooms at the old Embassy. At least nobody on here has ever been taken to one!! Must be something new.

That's probably one of the biggest reasons that they moved the Embassy -- so they could have private rooms to grill you....Have I told you lately how much I LOVE the Embassy?!

Do we really have to pay an additional $180.00 for the EAD..pon top of de AOS/Biometrics fee?

Yup, you sure do. Depending on the timelines for where you are filing you might not need to file for the EAD -- if the interviews for the AOS are moving quickly. It could save you some money -- but -- if the interviews get pushed back for any reason you won't have a work permit. I think that's what they count on and it just that much more cash they get to bleed from us.

Hey Future Mrs. Good for you. Get ready for a wild ride.

Morantbay girl-best wishes to you too.

Rachelle-Thanks so much for posting your interview info. I am K-1 but still feel that your K-3 interview can be of great use.

I received an email from the Embassy over the weekend. They said that we do not have an interview date yet, confirmed my mailing address for fiancee in Jamaica & told me that once an interview is scheduled we can set an appt. date & time for him to pick up a duplicate interview letter. They encouraged me to communicate via email. (That was nice). Oh well, at least I know they are alive. Keep fingers crossed for some news soon. I keep looking at the air tickets & the price keeps rising with every day!!! I wish they could understand the cost.

It is snowing here in Texas. Cold 26 degrees. Whats the weather like where you are?

I have been looking at the time lines and they are taking about 90 days for the EAD and 4-6 months for the AOS. That's if you don't get caught up in the FBI name check thing.

You sound like me. The first time he told me the dogs have to go outside I made it perfectly clear that they were spoiled house dogs that have never stayed outside and they might get cold. He backed off and we compromised. The dogs can stay in the house just not in the room he sleeps in. Still haven't broke the news to my dog. She's really not going to like that one. She's slept on my bed since she was a puppy.

I'm praying my hubby and the dogs bond. He's finally gotten over the fact that yes, they are sleeping in the house once he's here, as they would be heart broken to be tossed outside.

Hello VJ family.

Congrats Smilypaige.

We had to pay for two EADs because we got caught up in the FBI name check....it was expensive but worth every penny. The six months Damien stayed home without a work permit drove me

We got lucky -- we got the EAD a month before the GC -- our case got transferred to California so it was pretty quick. At the time, the AOS interviews for Chicago were lagging two years behind....there is no way I would have not shelled out the cash for the EAD.....the thought of him not working for two years.....that was not gonna happen. I was thrilled to pay them their $180 for the EAD.

Happy Hump Day Yardies!!!

Smileypaige thanks for posting the info  That gives us some idea on what things are going to be like.

Texasbound your almost there, hopefully you'll get your interview date soon

I have sent packet #3 to my fiancee thru DHL, it got there yesturday but they haven't contacted him to come pick it up yet.

I am hoping he goes to get it today, I want him to drop off the DS230 tomorrow when he goes to get packet #3. I am trying to save him the trip of having to go back to Kingston to drop it off. I guess I'm gonna have to put some fire under his feet to make him put a move on it :whistle:

Vj fam sista needs some serious help!

Over the past few months I've put off planning our renewal of vows in JA for various reasons...well it's now 2007 and if we're gonna do this ceremony next year then I can't put it off anymore.

I've looked into various sites for wedding planners in Ochi/JA but I'd probably have to sell my unborn child just to afford what they offer :(

FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT HAD OR ARE PLANNING A JA WEDDING:

1. Where did you have it

2. Date of wedding

3. How much did you/will you pay (exact amount not necessary, you can round to the nearest hundred :D)

4. How much of the planning/favors/etc. did you do or have help with from family and friends?

5. Any extra money saving tips?

6. Anything else I should know?

I'm probably not going back till December and I want to have the ball rolling before then. MIL has offered to help but I don't even know where to begin and I don't want her running around because I haven't made final decisions.

Help help help!!!

I'm actually looking to start planning our wedding here in the states. I first thought about having it in JA but it just seems more work to me so we have it here and then maybe a big party in JA later on.

For savings I threw pardna every week. Ask Drew about it I'm sure he'll tell you what it's all about. I have been doing it for years and trust me it has help a whole lot!!!

Help help help!!!

My parents helped me out with the cost of the wedding. I think planning a JA wedding was very easy. I loved my wedding coordinator she did everything. I am more worried about our USA wedding August. I want to find a karoke DJ in my area and a few more things.

Please ask if you want to know the Cost of any items below and I will PM you:

Wedding Corrdinator (500 dollars worth every penny and she works all over the island)

Food (60 people)

Cake

Summer hill Villa (9 bedrooms) Summer rate

Minster

Paper work

flowers

Champagne

alcholic beverages

DJ

favors

Bus Driver

We went with a villa it was cheaper to rent out a house than be at a hotel. We also had guest passes to the Wydaym Rose hall resort.

Met Jan 1998, vows on 2006, Jay Jay born 2008, baby 2 - 2011
