Re: The sad face

This is Mars, the Jamaican fiancee, I guess there will be days in the beginning that won't be easy for either of us. Jay tries his best but gets moody at times when I can't understand why. At those times I wonder if we should have waited a while longer before making such a big move. Then I look outside and see the ice and snow and I start missing home.

Anyway, we had a talk last night and we understand each other a bit better and have agreed to talk about our feelings instead of each going to a separate corner of the house. I love him dearly and I know without a doubt that he loves me. We just have never been under the same roof for more than a week at a time and each have been alone and independent for too long.

Can anyone relate?

Mars.

Marilyn,

It will get better!!! My first two weeks with Verton were stressfull!!!! Like you and Jay we had never spent more than a week together. Hope you still have my # . Hope you have an American cell phone call me!!

I vent with Shamanya often and it helps. You have to pick what battles are worth fighting. LOVE YA

I am a control freak
:lol:Among other things....  I am so glad you are back at work!! :jest::dance:
when you went to get the SS number what all did you bring with you??? the passport...the 1-94 anything else??
I brought with every piece of paper that we had  ....in the end, all they wanted was the Passport.
OK, now that we're married...we have to start the AOS process. I glanced over the guide--can you use the same Biographic Data sheet, affidavit of support, etc. that you just used with the K1 petition. When can you apply for a social security card, and how? Any tips?
Everything has to be done new. You need to wait at least two-three weeks AFTER his arrival to go to SS. That's just to make sure they have his info in the system. If he is -- they it could take up to a month to get your card. Some people got it faster -- some slower....that was us.
I guess there will be days in the beginning that won't be easy for either of us. Can anyone relate?
Understanding and patience is HUGE at this junction. You have to (kinda) back off and give them their space while at the same time not getting too distant. It's a real juggling act. It takes a ton of patience. The best thing to do is try to communicate as much as possible. If you can get to the bottom of what is bothering both of you, you can work on making it better.... (L)

It's an adjustment - you miss home and family and your husband has you here but probably worries about how to keep you happy, deal with your homesickness, and the next step of your process (AOS, finding a job, etc.). Things will get easier as the days go by but communication is key. In time things will get easier for both of you (F)

Since all of you have gone through this I have a question!

What is the LEAST expensive way to send paperwork to Jamaica?

DHL, UPS, FedEx, or regular mail? I don't want to pay TONS of money but I want to make sure it gets there!

NEVER EVER, send regular mail or regular USPS Priority Mail. It took a month to get to fiancee. Since this mistake Ive used DHL & Fedex. Fedex was around 30 dhl was 40.00. Dont sent anything in a box, customs with DHL will hold it & charge you excessively to have fiancee pick up & pay fees. Send a letter size packet.

Are you friends with anyone here on the board or have a friend going to JA anytime soon? A former boardie took my paperwork to hubby (thanks so much girl (L) and went over the papers with him so he understood everything. Nothing beats having them hand delivered

A year ago I sent two sheets of paper via Federal Express from Chicago to MoBay. It cost me $28.00 for "express" delivery which was suppose to be five days -- it got to the FedEx office the next day.

I think it's gonna come down to a "few pennies" in choosing which service to use. I do think you need to use a "service" -- the mail SUCKS there

I have used Global Priority and it works! Never ever been lost in 9 years. Maybe you mean just regular priority. You have to ask for the envelopes behind the counter because they are never sitting out.

sorry whoops I can't read right never regular or regular priority mail. Just Global!! Ahahah

Nothing is cheap especially if you want it to get there. I sent one document to the Embassy via DHL and it was $38.

Once you know how much the package weights you can call around and get prices.

Mrs. B!

How is hubby's feet doing?

Hubby's feet are finally healing he says. Thank goodness because they were bloody and run when I left and infected. I was so worried because the medicine he first got didn't work. He is doing good! He can't stand long and has to sit down at work.

Thanks for asking :D !

Thanks I will. I still have one major concern that worries me everyday... I've talk about this before. It is the proof of phone calls. We both have cell phone sevrices that don't distirbute bills. I have gotten a print out from the calling card co. that I use... but it only shows the last 6 months :crying: I am very worried that this may not be enough. I do have several airline tickets and itenerary info and a few letters, receipts etc... It seems that phone calls are a big part of proof. I would hate to be denied because of this :(

Honestly, I don't see you being denied over actual phone bills when you have other proof (airline tickets being a big plus, as well as mailed letters). Do you have any photos of you two together? And if you have calling card info from the last six months, that is proof of phone calls, just not direct dialing. No worries, just focus on what you can provide and don't stress off of what you can't.

I've seen a few internet cafe's around Negril. This may sound like a silly question..... But who would I send it to being that he doesn't have an e-mail account? Should he go there and sent one up before I send the info??
