To all of you who went through this - can you please give me your advice

FIANCE VISA OR SPOUSAL VISA?? Which one did you find easier?

With the Fiance Visa, you will have your man here much sooner. You will still have to do a lot of paperwork once he's here, but at least he's living with you and not 2000 miles away! The majority of us on the Yardie thread went with the Fiance Visa.

6 months - that is not bad at all!! What was the most stressful part about it? Waiting? Paperwork?

Ours took about 5 months altogether before he arrived in the U.S. (See our timeline at the bottom) For me, the most stressful part was the stuff that Tony had to do himself down in Jamaica. I am a control freak and hated having to wait on him to get stuff done and there was nothing I could do about it And they are all on "Jamaican time" down there so NOTHING happens in a timely manner. He will have to get his birth certificate, passport, police records, get the medical dones, etc.... You can do almost all the other paperwork and then just make him sign his parts!

I HATE RAMBOO OH YEAH. This is a movie he watches EVERYDAY.

LOL Tony watches certain movies over and over too! It drives me insane And when they're on, he acts like he can't miss a second of it - as if he hasnt' seen it 39 times before and doesn't know exactly what happens next!!! Some of his "favorites" are The Mummy, anything with Jet Li, the Rambo movies, ect... I usually tune them out so I can't think of any more right now.

Several of you suggested that it is better that I go to the interview with him. I am worried since I am twice his age and that might make them suspicious. It makes everyone else suspicious. I welcome and help and/or kind words.

Yes, I would definately go if at all possible. YOU are the best "proof of relationship" there is! And yes, they have been known to harass (for lack of a better word!) couples that have a huge age difference. All the more reason for you to attend the interview!

OK, now that we're married...we have to start the AOS process. I glanced over the guide--can you use the same Biographic Data sheet, affidavit of support, etc. that you just used with the K1 petition. When can you apply for a social security card, and how? Any tips?

Re: The sad face

This is Mars, the Jamaican fiancee, I guess there will be days in the beginning that won't be easy for either of us. Jay tries his best but gets moody at times when I can't understand why. At those times I wonder if we should have waited a while longer before making such a big move. Then I look outside and see the ice and snow and I start missing home.

Anyway, we had a talk last night and we understand each other a bit better and have agreed to talk about our feelings instead of each going to a separate corner of the house. I love him dearly and I know without a doubt that he loves me. We just have never been under the same roof for more than a week at a time and each have been alone and independent for too long.

Can anyone relate?

Since all of you have gone through this I have a question!

What is the LEAST expensive way to send paperwork to Jamaica?

DHL, UPS, FedEx, or regular mail? I don't want to pay TONS of money but I want to make sure it gets there!

NEVER EVER, send regular mail or regular USPS Priority Mail. It took a month to get to fiancee. Since this mistake Ive used DHL & Fedex. Fedex was around 30 dhl was 40.00. Dont sent anything in a box, customs with DHL will hold it & charge you excessively to have fiancee pick up & pay fees. Send a letter size packet.
