Good afternoon.

Welcome home Mike.

Rhonda - I've heard many good things about Barbados. We were thinking about visiting Barbados but decided Aruba instead...so Damien can see his mother. We hope to be in Jamaica next Dec - Jan with his family.

Welcome home Mike! Finally...

6'8'' wow, that is tall.... so you can say he really did sweep you off your feet.

I am so happy that this is finally behind you....

I filed for my husband February of this year, USCIS took almost 7 months to approve our case. Our case was then forwarded to NVC where all the requested documents were sent. They received all our documentation and entered them into their system on November 1st. I was told that it takes 2-4 weeks for the case to be completed, yet ours is still being reviewed, while I've seen others in the same visa category send in documents 2-3 days after ours and have gotten their case completed no later than 2 weeks and sent to the respective embassy. Now this makes me wonder how NVC works, just a little confused I guess. I call daily to find out if there are any changes but not yet. I am trying not to get fed up but this not easy to do atall. :help:

I would say that if you're not mentally strong to deal with this process then don't do it. By far this is the hardest thing I've ever done in my life and all because I want to live a normal life with my husband who I've know since I was a child. **sigh**

The reason the CR1's take longer is because there are more people filling than just married couples. This processes is filling for a relative. There are a lot more relatives than fiances. Some cases take longer I have heard on how you meet and documentation on what you have to prove your significant other has been with you long time. The senators office said I would have no problem because I had documentation for 9 years. It is also who you know if you can get local agents to help you. I don't understand with your case if you have known him since childhood. hmm puzzling.

Hang in there!

I know; there seems to be no rhyme or reason on how they process accounts. I hope you get an approval soon. I don't know why the K-3's and CR1's take longer than the K-1's. If you ask me they all take to long

Hey BelwinMills,

Thank you for your clarification, this sucks because I have heard of married couples whose application took only 6 months so go figure. I'll just sit back and play the waiting game, what else can I do.

I have known my husband since we were children, we dated for about 2 years before I migrated. We reconnected 4 years ago, got married and the rest is history.

Okay,

I will admit finally that I have spent a lot of time thinking about the K1 and getting it started. I even think that I am obsessed with the VJ website! I am going nuts waiting to hear from Marlon that he got his divorce decree. Even though I have read so many posts and guides, I have some questions for those of you who have completed the K1 and AOS process:

1.) I cannot be in Jamaica for Marlon's interview, does it matter whether I am there or not?

2.) Can I set up the plane ticket for him to go to New York for his POE and then here to Arizona? And if his POE is New York, can he visit his father while he is there?

3.) Exactly how many passport photos do me and Marlon need all together?

4.) How much is it for the EAD and AOS? Are we done completely after that? If not, how much more money will we have to spend until we are done?

Arrrrggghhh! LOL That's it for now.

Thanks for putting up with me! I am just a little stressed about 2 final exams next week and wanting to file the K1 before the end of December.

Hello FutureMrs

1. If you cannot be there for his interview, make sure he is overprepared. I didn't attend but I sent hubby a 5+ pound binder (with a color indexed table of contents with matching dividers to match the colors on TOC - yes I know #######), and before the interview call him and spend time with him going over the sections so come interview date he knows where everything is and can be located when the interviewer asks for something.

2. Yes, he can fly through NY for stamp and you can either get a separate ticket for him to come to AZ or find a route that has a layover in NY. And yes, he can visit his father while in NY.

3. We had 12 passport photos  - again better to be overprepared (he paid about $200JA for all of them).

4. EAD and AOS (lumped in with postal service fees) cost us about $700.00. We didn't apply for advance parole travel so that saved us some money. Because our AOS interview was local, we didn't have any travel costs. Getting the medical supplement was only $35.00 - start searching the board NOW for low-cost doctors to do this for you - this will be one less headache for you later.

Phew! Thank you so much! I guess you can say that I have the "pre-K1 Visa jitters"! As far as ####### goes, I am usually well prepared when it comes to presentation! You should see my ENG102 term paper on the pyramids of Giza and how the stars in the belt of Orion match up, it even had transparencies on top! lol A couple more questions if you do not mind:

How will I know where the AOS interview will be?

What is the medical supplement, is it aside from the medical exam Marlon will receive in Kingston?

Again, thanks so much, I really appreciate this site and the people, I don't feel so alone!

Oh and Nanny:

The whole time I was in Jamaica and eating patties, fried chicken & "peas & rice", I was yearning for a burger and fries. When Marlon took me to Ochi, he bought be Burger King and that Whopper was the best I have EVER had in my life! :o I came back here and the first thing I did was get a Whopper, sadly it just wasn't the same :crying: lol

Good Morning Everyone

It looks like interviews are coming one after another  I would like to congradulate everyone who has gone thru it  And send out best wishes to those who have them coming up  .

I am starting to wonder what is going on with my case, I haven't heard anything... Not even a touch

I don't understand why Calif. is so slow  I haven't received any RFE's so I guess that is a good thing.

I have a question about the proof of relationship...

1. They ask for phone bills... He has digicel which we all know, they don't get a bill but he has saved all the phone cards. The cell phone co. I'm with doesn't do bills either. We talk on the phone just about everyday, but don't have visual proof.

2. They want to see envelopes with post marks... We have sent letters (cards) thru the mail, but very few.

My question to you all is... Did anyone have to produce these items, if so was there any problems if you didn't have them?

How will I know where the AOS interview will be? What is the medical supplement, is it aside from the medical exam Marlon will receive in Kingston?
The interview will be where your local office is. You can go onto the USCIS website and find that out. They call all the "offices" different names -- I <believe> you want a District Office -- but, I'm not sure.....

The "medical supplement" is just a piece of paper that a Civil Surgeon here in the states has to fill out (and seal) and you include it in your AOS package.

When Marlon does his "medical" in Jamaica have him try to get a copy of the vaccinations that they gave him/that he already has. That will make it much easier when getting the supplement filled out. If he is missing any shots the Civil Surgeon will give them to him. As Jonesie said, start searching for a CS now (you can find the approved Civil Surgeons on the USCIS website). The medical that Marlon gets in Jamaica is good for ONE YEAR -- many of the CS want to make you re-take the medical. Run far and fast from those doctors. Roy didn't need any shots but it still cost us $100.00 for the visit. It's a great way for these doctors to make extra $$$$$

Sorry....it's actually called a "Local Office" Looks like there is one in Phoenix and a "Sub-Office" (whatever that is) is in Tucson.
