For anyone who knows about filing the I 134, question #11 says "that I intend/don't intend to make specific contributions to the support of the person(s) named in item 3. If you check "intend" enter the exact nature and duration of the contributions...

my question is...

if I check "intend"...what then am I supposed to say? am i supposed to say that i will furnish housing, meals, etc until after he receives his work permit and gets a job? is that acceptable? or is there another answer?

Also question 10 says "that I have submitted visa petitions to the CIS on behalf of the following persons(s). If none, state none". Am I supposed to put my fiance's name? Or mark none because I have filed no other visa petitions besides the fiance visa for him?

Thanks!

Hello Everyone,

Happy weekend!

This is my first post, I hope I'm putting it in the right place. I've been reading through the Yardie threads for a while and am so grateful to all of you for sharing your experiences and information. Just knowing that there is a community of people just like us going through this same process, who we can reach out to has eased a ton of anxiety and answered so many of our questions. Ironically, however, I've been reading so much that I've now reached the point where the more I read, the more confusded I get. I could really use some help filling in the blanks about the process and answering some of the questions on the forms.

Here is where we are: We received our NOA 2 on November 1. I emailed the NVC and as of Friday (the 10th) they don't have our file yet. Could someone confirm for me what happens now? I believe I'm waiting on the letter from the NVC to know that they've done what they need to do and that the file is on its way to Kingston. Do I need to send my fiance the letter I get from the NVC in order for him to go to the Embassy? Or does he just need to call them with the number and then go? Is there anything else that needs to happen before he can go pick up the papers?

After he picks up the first packet, I think he has to turn the DS-230 Part 1 back in at the Embassy before they can begin the process to set the interview date? What else does he need to do or turn in at that point? Once he does all of that, what happens, and how long does it take?

What is it that he has to pay for at Paymaster? When does he pay it and how much is it? What does he do with the receipt?

FORMS:

What is the best way to organize all the paperwork for the interview? Right now I have a binder that has divider labels and folders for every separate thing. I figured that way it would be easy to find whatever they ask for quickly. Any suggestions?

My fiance's son is going to come up later, do we need to fill out a DS-230 Part 1 & 2, a DS-156 & DS-156k for him as well as include him in the I-134 from now?

Am I the petitioner in #29 on DS-230 Part 2?

Regarding applying for a SSN on DS-230 Part 2 #'s 33 a & b - do we answer yes?

DS-156 #32 'Do you intend to work in the U.S.' - he definitely plans to work, but is this question mainly used for other types of visas where people are coming here solely to work, or should he answer yes?

"Have you ever been denied/refused a U.S. visa?" - he applied for a visa to work on the ships like 11 years ago, his application was denied because the paperwork was not properly filled out and the lady at the embassy suggested he file an appeal and fill the paperwork out properly and he'd most likely be approved. Does this count as a 'denial' or 'refusal'?

So many questions! I'd appreciate any help anyone could give. And again, thanks just for being here and sharing.

Welcome keishino and best wishes on your visa journey.

It's usually kind of quiet here on the weekends but I'm sure you'll get your answers soon.

ok to answer the first part...yup you just have to wait....you can go to www.uscis.gov and fill out the info for your case to see what is happening with it like...like if they have it has it been touched and if it has been approved...

to answer the 2nd part no he doesn't need it to go get packet #3 but if i could make a suggestion...fill out the ds230 send it to him so when he goes to get packet #3(he will need it the medical paper for him to fill out is in there) he can already hand in the ds230 then you will be ahead of the game!

After he picks up the first packet, I think he has to turn the DS-230 Part 1 back in at the Embassy before they can begin the process to set the interview date? What else does he need to do or turn in at that point? Once he does all of that, what happens, and how long does it take?

yes like i said in the 1st question hand in the ds230 when getting packet#3 and then they will schedule a interview...he doesn't need to take anything else with him at this point just the ds230...as far as how long it takes...depends on when he hands it in....i don't really remember but i think not much more than 2 months after he hands in the ds230 will your interview be sheduled

What is it that he has to pay for at Paymaster? When does he pay it and how much is it? What does he do with the receipt?

he has to pay 100.00 us for the interview...he can pay at anytime..he will get a receipt with it that you take to the interview

binder will be your best friend!! make sure you label everything!!!!!!!!! and have a seperate folder for all differnt forms it will save your life and your fiancee's trust me!!!

My fiance's son is going to come up later, do we need to fill out a DS-230 Part 1 & 2, a DS-156 & DS-156k for him as well as include him in the I-134 from now?

uuummm....can't really help you on this one...but i would think if he is coming later you would file later..

Am I the petitioner in #29 on DS-230 Part 2?

YUP!!

Regarding applying for a SSN on DS-230 Part 2 #'s 33 a & b - do we answer yes?

YUP!!

DS-156 #32 'Do you intend to work in the U.S.' - he definitely plans to work, but is this question mainly used for other types of visas where people are coming here solely to work, or should he answer yes?

in the example form the have WITH WORK AUTHORIZATION, EMPLOYER UNKNOWN...i put something like that down as well...

"Have you ever been denied/refused a U.S. visa?" - he applied for a visa to work on the ships like 11 years ago, his application was denied because the paperwork was not properly filled out and the lady at the embassy suggested he file an appeal and fill the paperwork out properly and he'd most likely be approved. i'm going to say yes to this one....i am sure they have it in his records that he was....it won't hurt him...my fiancee' was deniedtwice for a tourist visa and the officer never said anything...

hope this helps!

I smiply checked "Intend to" and then wrote "All expenses", Some say to check do not intend to. I do not agree, but that is just my silly opinion. I was not asked about it at the interview anyway.
