What do you do for a living? Do you like your job? Is it just a job or a stepping stone in your career? Are you what you wanted to be when you grew up? Do you have a dead end job (like mine)? Have you ever made a major career change? How did you go about doing that? Let's talk careers....

1. Nurse...Assistant Patient care manager at a mental health hospital.

2. For the most part yes, I like my job.

3. Just a stepping stone.

4. On my way to being what I want to be when I grow up, will start Classes in Jan to finish a BSN then to hopefully pursue at Masters in either family nursing or womens health. I'm finding that there aren't many jobs, at least here in KC in that field, So Maybe be I'll just get a masters in Health care Management or something and go with this management thing, I don't know.

5. No, dead end job here, there are many choices in nursing, when I get tired of one thing I switch to something else. ;)

6. Never made a career changed been in health care for over 12 years now in one form or another. :hehe:

GET READY. Now I just sat in the pasenger seat with my eyes closed until we reach, cause I just  cannot deal with it.
  That visual is just cracking me up!!

You should see how vex he becomes when we miss our exit cause I have my eyes closed. :dead::lol:

I'm growing locs...My hubby doesn't like them....howe ever they are very nice looking, I get many compliments. He started calling me Rasta, which I'm not fond of. He wants me to wash them out. I have never been more comfortable with my hair. It's funny he tells me we want me to take them out, but he's always playing in my hair, even pullin on it in the heat of the moment  Something he's ever done before  I'm like I can't tell he don't like dem, even started twisting them for me. cause I', not doing it right, :luv: very conflicting. I'm not washing them out, or cutting them out for that matter. Are women who wear locs looked down on in JA??? It seems that he should be more accepting, it's just a hair style for goodness sake, at least for me it is.

I told Roy a few weeks ago that I was gonna do that -- you should have seen the look on his face. Remember, I am whiter than whiter and my hair is straighter than straight

Then I told him that I want to become a Rasta -- I thought he was gonna pack his bags and leave :P Then he told me that Rasta's are vegetarians.....I can't live without my meat   so that's not gonna happen either.

Good Luck Dee.....stick with it!!

You guys are cracking me up....we had the "pee on the toilet" problem for about 1 day and it was back in JA........that quickly got better!!! :D:D

I work as a Trainer/Supervisor for the Food Stamp/Medi-Cal (Medicaid) program. I like my job but it is not what I dreamed about....I would have LOVED to be a nurse or doctor........unfortunately, I had my son when I was 16 so it kinda made school a problem since I was out on my own and I had to work full time....I don't see how I could go back to school considering my crazy work hours......unless I won the lottery or Duane became rich and famous!!!

I have worked in the admin side of healthcare for 19 years but about 5 years ago I decided to quit my job and change directions......I worked as a supervisor for the Superior Court.....I supervised 50 Courtroom Clerks.....It was the WORST thing I ever did in my life.......I hated the job!!! I went to work every morning crying!!! Working around Judges was just over the top!!! :diablo::diablo: They think they are the "chosen ones"....FAR worse than doctors!!!

So...I am now back in healthcare.......I do not love it but it pays the bills.......kind of.......:whistle:

HAPPY FRIDAY!!! I have a 5 day weekend!!! Monday is a Holiday...Columbus Day!! I took Tuesday as a vacation day and Wednesday is my normal day off.....I think we are planning to drive up the coast to Carmel/Monterey for the day....I need to clear my head from all this worry and stress!!!

I've been considering growing locs for quite some time now. Squito supports the decision. I think I'm going to go for it!

Hello family.

I love locs. Most of my friends and family have locs - they are beautiful. My hair is natural but not locked yet.

Last night Damien was showing me how Bounty Killer dances...then we were dancing like Rastas. I asked if we can be rastas....let's just say the music stopped

I saw him last December. He was awesome. He happened to be playing in Boston when Bert was visiting me so I surprised him. Couldn't believe there were more white people than black. Then they wouldn't let us into the after party because Bert had work boot type shoes on and they were only allowing sneakers. Go figure!

WE ARE DONE!!!

We love his CD....especially the song with Bounty Killer. He's always in the DC area but we always miss him.

I finally get to put my belly/dancehall dancing moves to work....can't wait . Well, at least a few whines ;)

Stone Love will be here next Saturday. My friends and I may go if my hips (back and neck) don't hurt

Tali~ How are things going? Are things getting any better? Just wanted to let you know that you always have someone to vent/talk to if you need it (F)

Thanks for the note. Things go back and forth. But I am honestly wondering whether marriage is such a good idea. Its scary to say that - even scarier to feel that - but its where I am right now.

To me, he is selfish - he thinks I am RICH - and he is rude (dosen't answer me when I talk, curses to himself in Jamaican every time I say something he dosent like). He says I'm just not the same woman I used to be. He says I make everything a problem and "cause argument". I'm like of course I'm not the same woman - we are not on vacation in Jamaica anymore. There is no hotel housekeeper to clean your mess every day. I have a very demanding job - a teenager - bills - I cannot be susie sunshine at your beck and call all the freakin time!:angry:

Dang. This is so hard. If I just thought it was transition items - I'd grit my teeth and go through this... but I'm starting to wonder if the things I'm experiencing aren't plain old "character" issues. One more thing that really gets me.... when we have an argument he's like "fine, I'll just do it your way - I won't say anythng else about it - I'm already on a pretty thin line here". I ask him what that means and he's like "if it dosen't work out, I go back to Jamaica." So what does this mean? Is he only here to live a better life? I wonder that. But in other situation's he has actually said he wants to go home. So what am I to think?

Needless to say, I'm pretty sad. And I'm confused. And we are almost 60 days into the 90 day K1 process and I am not feeling in a marrying mood.

Please keep me in your prayers! :help:

Thanks for letting me vent.

GIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRL I am sooooooooooooooooooo feeling what you're talking about. Are you living in my same household???? I waited to the LAST possible day to get married and I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO not into this AT ALL !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't air this stuff out on the VJ site, just to those that are TRULY going through what I'm going through!!!

It will be GREAT and "normal" for a day or 2 and then go RIGHT back into the same ole same ole flippin BS immaturity ####### !!!! Today, I have a meeting at my sons school with the Vice P, guidance counselor and the teacher he disrespected yesterday. My son is 12 but has NEVER EVER done this before. He is SOOOOOOOO acting out the BS ####### that's here in our house and "I" am PERSONALLY going to have a nervous breakdown. I do NOT get supported, NOONE is asking ME how "I" am doing, nor do THEY care!!! It's ALL about Craig and ONLY Craig!!!

JUST this morning, Craig said, let Austin have what HE wants...to be with you and ONLY you and I'll go back to Jamaica !!!!!!!!!!! It's a maturity thing, but IF I could send him back, trust me ........I would. If I EVER had to go through this process again, I SOOOO would NOT !!!!!

I am TOTALLY confused, helpless, frustrated and very veeeeeeeeeeery sad !!! There's other issues within our relationship that I'm also dealing with..........a "friend" that keeps calling. More to THAT story, but I gotta get going.

If you want to vent....and talk, I'm here to listen!!!!! Someone that has a teenager, that is going through EXACTLY what I am !!!!

Take care, I'll be back in about an hour or so ....

Kelly

My job is a Human Resource Specialist for the State Department. I worked as a HR assistant for a few years. I was promoted last year but I'm still at the bottom of my career ladder, grade wise. Hopefully working myself up very soon.

I love working with people so I really enjoy my job....most days. Always doing different things so I'm never bored. One of newest duties is hiring family members of foreign service officers in our European and Eureasian Embassies.

I've been with the State Department for almost 10 years and want to relocate so I'm applying for jobs. And plan to go back to school.
