Questions:

What docs is required to get married in JA? Is the birth cert the only one? And once you do will I recv the temporary cert ASAP? If so how long will it take for me to recv the original? Will they mail it to me or my spouse?

Also is it true that I have to be in the country for at least 48 hrs after we get married?

Anna,

Why all the questions all of a sudden? I thought you guys were going to do the K-1? Did you change your mind? We haven't heard much from you lately. Good luck with whatever route you choose to go

Yea we decided to do the K3 route instead.

Ok, so I was on the other forum again just browsing to see if the lady had responded to my inquiry..and she hadn't...but while I was looking, another forum member had informed everyone on the site that she had come across the VJ website and how great it was and thought others should check it out, and the lady responded with:

It didn't help me as much as I would've liked it to. Ended up finding out more info on my own.

She also went on to say that someone had recommended her to the site, but she found it basically useless to her....well naturally, I took offense, because I think this entire website has been one of the best things that I have ever found, and everyone in this forum has been extremely open and helpful...so I responded by just letting everyone know all the different kinds of helpful and useful information that could be found up here, how there was a network just for folx from the caribbean, and how everyone on the site has been helpful and how it is probably one of the best places to go if you want to know ANYTHING about the immigration process, before during, and after!! I really kinda think of this place as another family, and I'm actually surprised at how defensive I felt!!! Anyhoo, I'm off to work, so I'll talk to you later. Hope everyone has a nice day!!

Hey! I was the one that recomended this site on ETJ! lol

Hey!! I'm glad you recommended this site up there!! Like I said on ETJ, this site is SO full of helpful information!! I can point you in the direction of the forms you need to fill out and show you where you can find examples of how to fill them out! I (and everyone else here for that matter) can share our experiences with you...Like I said on ETJ, this site has been the most helpful site in regards to immigration that I've ever seen...ETJ is a great forum for meeting and talking to people and discussing the Jamaican culture as a whole...don't get me wrong, I like it...but this site in particular provides a lot more pertinent and useful information in regards to the actual immigration process...

That's funny -- I would have never made it through this process without you guys. I guess I can understand that if she came onto VJ and didn't know where "we" were -- it would be pretty much useless to her. Before Mama Squitto gathered us all up and put us in one place it was hard to find information specific to Jamaica. Thank you Squitto!! (L)

I am new to this website and trying to figure it all out. I have some questions on filling out the forms for a K-1 Visa for my fiance coming from Jamaica.
Welcome Jamus.....ask away. We are all here to give you any help and support we can. If you want to use a lawyer that is your choice. I was going to when I started this process -- then I found VJ and decided I could do it on my own. We had no problems. I suggest you save your money.

Good morning,

I am new to this website and trying to figure it all out. I have some questions on filling out the forms for a K-1 Visa for my fiance coming from Jamaica. Most of my questions are about the form itself, what not to write or how much to write.

Was wondering if i could get some help from someone who has been thru this process already. I am really trying to avoid lawyer fees at the moment if i can.

Any help would be wonderful.

Thanks

Welcome (F) Ask any questions you need too...trust me there is no stupid question in this family

Jamie Baby -- What's Up????? How's school???

Doing good...school is a hard adjustment but things are progressing. Thanks for asking :luv:

We're heading down to Virginia Beach (supposed to) this weekend for a soccer tournament, but the weather is supposed to be REALLY bad. NOT looking forward to that again this year, although Craig is TOTALLY pumped about seeing "a beach"!!!!

Do you think he's going to be disappointed? Roy loved the beach in San Diego but it was so much colder and much more (as he says) "frownsie" than Jamaica

:lol::lol::lol:

I just had to laugh...When we first took Andre to the "beach" that is only about 10 miles away from us he was soooooo disappointed. I don't know how he thought the weather would be different with a 10 min drive but he did. He was like "look at all these rocks and things...this isn't a beach and where is the sun?" Sorry hun but if its raining where we live it is probably raining at the "beach" too :D

OMG I totally forgot about the volume thing. I often wonder if they are deaf but they don't miss a thing when someone is talking.

It always amazes me that someone in the back seat can hear the driver and I am sitting right next to them and cannot hear a things.

I wonder what they say about us??? :P

WE ARE DONE!!!
