Just a quick correction...the medical forms are in PACKET 4 with your interview letter. Packet 3 is the one that I would not be over worried about getting because you can download all the necessary forms from the internet!!!

Wynter.....they do a blood test so if he smokes regularly.....maybe 3 months would be the best before he goes for his medical.............don't let him tell you that he can drink some special "bush tea"...it does not work!!!!Another couple I know tried it and they got a big fat denial at the embassy!!!!! I did not have to worry because Duane does not smoke but I was freaked because folks smoke so much all around and I was afraid he would test positive just for second-hand smoke.......(I know...I am a paranoid freak!!!!)

i dont know about b4 now......but i just picked up both my pac 3 an 4 at the embassy an the pac 3 had everthing INCLUDING MEDICAL FORMS when i got pac 4 it was only the letter in it ........but u still cant do the medical without the appointment letter

OH MY GOD! Denied for testing positive for ganja--oh Christ, he'll never get here

Yes, they test everyone for this since it is so prevalant down there. And they don't just do a simple urine test for it either. They do a blood test and it stays in your blood longer than in the urine.

HypeTV has made my life so much easier -- Roy watches it 24/7....one of the best things I ever did!!

Tony is already impossible to drag away from the TV with out having HypeTV  I don't think I'd ever see him if we got that

Will two months do it? Is it a blood test?

Yes, two months will be fine. And yes, it is a blood test. I was so paranoid, I didn't even want my husband around anyone who was smoking  I didn't want him getting it second-hand

Mo Bay would have been more convenient and that is the route I normally take. But the deal I get for this trip took me through Kingston. In addition to which I am flying back through JFK and I could only do that on a 5.30pm flight through Mo Bay getting into JFK at 10.10 PM. I can leave Kingston at 8.30 am and get into JFK by 12.noon. Better time for me.

I normally rent if I am going to be there for more than a few days. I have a friend who has a couple vehicles and rent me for $30.00 US per day. The best rental company in one in Mo Bay that charges 160.00 per week for a Chevy Malibu. But then you pay about 12.00 a day for insurance cause credit card companies do not provide insurance for rentals in Jamaica, So renting from a private owner always works out best. I am pretty good on the roads in Jamaica. Similar to the roads I grew up with in my home country of Trinidad. Winding roads with no lanes and no lights except in Kingston.

Thanks for the info regarding packets and medical.

If you are staying in Browstown why fly into Kingston? Isn't Mobay more convenient?

Where do you rent your car? Have you done that before? Just looking for other's experience with car rental.

I've rented a car the last 2 times I went to JA. The first time was through Hertz and the second time through Thrifty. They were both VERY expensive :( And we had to put a $1000 hold on my credit card until the car is safely returned  I would love to find a cheaper place to get one from.

I did not have to worry because Duane does not smoke but I was freaked because folks smoke so much all around and I was afraid he would test positive just for second-hand smoke.......(I know...I am a paranoid freak!!!!)

Oh my gosh, girl you sound just like me  I just said something very similar to that before I read this post!

Can you please give me the info. for these rental companies??? I've been spending way too much money on car rentals when I go down there :bonk: I spent $600 for a 10 day rental and then $300 for a 4 day rental :o

(F) Good Morning!!

I was wondering if those who went to the interview flew into MoBay or Kingston. I've never been to Kingston but I know that the ride from MoBay to Kingston is supposed to be literally a "trip". What is everyone's thoughts on this?

I flew to Kingston and we stayed at the Hilton. Everytime I go back to Jamaica we go to Kingston....there really is alot to do there -- not so much "touristie" things like MoBay or Ochi. I 100% suggest staying in Kingston the night before the interview.....If you are late they will not let you in.

don't let him tell you that he can drink some special "bush tea"...it does not work!!!!Another couple I know tried it and they got a big fat denial at the embassy!!!!! I did not have to worry because Duane does not smoke but I was freaked because folks smoke so much all around and I was afraid he would test positive just for second-hand smoke.......(I know...I am a paranoid freak!!!!)

Roy doesn't smoke so it wasn't a problem for us. But yeah, the "bush tea" or whatever that tomato juice concoction they make WILL NOT WORK!! I told Roy that is someone is smoking he needs to cross the street to get away from the smoke.....I was really paranoid!!

I may be one of the only ones who was NOT present at the k1 interview. I wasn't actually worried about it at all. Henry was well prepared, (except for the mistake with his birth certificate) and everything was smooth as pie. I don't think it hurts you at all not being there. It certainly hasn't stopped us.

Henry stayed at the Pegasus for the night I was a nervous wreck but we stayed strong and got through it. For me it wasn't financial reasons that I didn't go...I just didn't see the need for it with all of our evidence piled up. Hope that helps.

I will keep my fingers crossed for him although I don't think they will give him the interview date right now. That is something that has never happened before....but, there could always be a first time

I think someone has stayed at the Knutsford <maybe Elizabeth>. We were going to stay there last time but I really like the Hilton and didn't want to change.
