Hi,

I decided to take my husbands name after getting married, so I understand that I should apply with my new name for AOS. I followed the expamples forms for the i 485 and g325. What about the I-693 and I-864 and the other two optional forms? On the POE I received an authorisation for work, so I am confused if I should I send the I-765.

The K1 precess took us 9 long months.

AOS

09/25/09 - POE: JFK

10/05/09 - married on K1 visa

11/23/09 - filed for AOS, EAD, AP

12/21/09 - Biometrics

02/01/10 - received work permit and adv parole

02/11/10 - Card production ordered!

02/23/10 - Green card received

  1. Forget the stamp you received at the POE. It is not sufficient to allow you to work. You must receive an EAD or GC to legally work.
  2. If you want your married name to be on your GC, then use that name on your forms.
  3. Send in the I-131 & the I-765 - they don't cost any extra $$.

K1: 01/15/2009 (mailed I-129F) - 06/23/2009 (visa received)

AOS: 08/08/2009 (mailed I-485, I-765, & I-131) - 10/29/2009 (received GC)
