Has anyone recently received a package 3 from the US Embassy in Bangkok? If so, how long did it take from the date of the NOA2 notice of Approval?

Can she request or schedule her own interview date or are they assigned?

Is it realistic to think that my fiancee might be able to get a medical on Thursday, December 25, an interview on Friday, December 26, and a visa by Monday or Tuesday, December 28 or 29? I plan to arrive in Bangkok on December 24 and it would be great if we could meet there and get this done together.

See my timeline.

I checked the DHL tracking to verify that the consulate had received it

and we took care of both the police report & medical exam before we got the packet3 letter.

Ask someone about the interview scheduling who has gone for the interview; you get to

schedule that after they invite you for the interview when packet4 has been approved.

For us it took about a month from recieving the NOA2 to her receiving Packet 3. You can look at my timeline for exact dates. Su was emailed a notice of when to arrive for her interview after she paid her visa fee. I'd be careful about trying to anticipate exact dates for things like the interview, and her medical. Things at the Embassy might tend to run a little slower arount the holiday time. I'd give yourself a bit more of a cushion.

Do you have to be in Bangkok to take are of the police report and medical exam, or can my fiancee do one or both of these things in Khonkaen?

I haven't heard of anyone else getting a police report from anywhere but bkk. Perhaps it's possible. But be sure to check out the BKK embassy infopage on this website. It has lots of good information for someone at your stage of this process: http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/inde...amp;cty=Bangkok. It gives the phone number for where to obtain the police certificates. If you call them, they should be able to give you an answer.

You have to be in BKK for both; both have designated sites.

Getting the police report in BKK was a snap. She was a little nervous with all the forms but the

staff there were friendly and helpful. In the room where we went, that was practically their only

activity, so there were no "arai-wa's" on either side of the process. Doing it anywhere else would

be a waste of time.

When I arrive in Thailand on December 24, it will probably be too early for the interview. But I can ask Pu to fly in from Khonkaen to meet me in Bangkok so that we can get the police report and the medical done on December 25. Then, she can return for her interview at a later date. What documentation did you need to get the medical and the police record? I guess they did not need to see anything from package 3, since you did it prior to receiving package 3. Are you sure this is OK?
